The trip from Shreveport to Jesuit is a tough one to make, but the Huntington squad came ready to play. After falling behind by as much as 17, someone had to step up and make big-time plays. While roles can change on any given night depending on the matchup, on this night, Parker came through in a major way, scoring 18 points in the second half. He just kept making plays, hitting big shot after big shot. Everyone knows his name and his game, but this year is about making history, and this performance was one of the biggest of the night.

Parker has struggled forward this season and may have just found his way to the other side of adversity. It is well known strategy to guard him when he steps in the gym, but this season has been met with some trials for Parker and his scoring has suffered. Well. This weekend he found his footing and showed what happens when it all comes together. There are no shortcuts to greatness and his 35 point performance vs Ruston is one that will be remembered for a long time. His explosives was on full display, and the kid was unguardable. His ability to knock down shots puts him in the conversation with the best in the state regardless of class, and if this weekend is an indicator of what is to come, watch out. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder, and being at the top with something to prove is a dangerous combination.

Parker is one of the players that bring fans to the gym. He is electric on or off the ball and each season Parker improves on the details of the game. He is known to be a scorer, but his 19/10/10 stat line is an indicator of the growth. The details of the game require good guards to score, facilitate, rebound and defend. He does each of those at a high level, but continues to work to improve in each area. Bigger, stronger and most of all smarter, he is built to carry the load through wins and losses.

Washington, Parker erupted for 30 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals — all as a sophomore.

Known as a gym rat, he’s constantly refining his game, and it’s clear that the sky is the limit for this talented player.

Parker had a rough championship game on Saturday. He was held scoreless in the first half due to the Bearcat defense. Parker woke up and showed his skills in the second half. His ability to handle helped him get his shot off as he banked in a three. He showed an ability to get to his spots and made an effort to help Huntington comeback. Being a top player will promote the opposition’s best effort as it did on Saturday. Parker has the perimeter game that will allow him to bounce back.

Parker is evolving into a better combo guard. This summer, Peyton showed progression into becoming a more complete combo guard. We all know that he can shoot the ball at a high level. His passing has continued to improve. Finding teammates in scoring areas helped him grow this summer and continues his improvement. Parker also rebounds well for a guard which continues his growth as a player. Huntington will truly benefit from his growth.

Parker is getting a ton of recruiting buzz lately and it is justified. He is one of the better players in the 2027 class. Being a leader on a talented team such as Huntington is a task, however. Knowing when to score and when to pass is a gift. As a super sophomore, he will have to figure that out. Tuesday night will be a good place to start that process.

Parker came in as a heralded freshman and did not disappoint. He was thrown into the competitive fires on the varsity level and did not wilt. His shooting sets him apart from others and he is highly accurate from deep. Peyton worked at the lead guard this summer for the Raiders expanding his game. Playing on or off the ball will give Parker the opportunity to light up defenses as he pleases.
