Entringer Classic: Prospect Updates

The annual Entringer Classic took place Saturday, December 28 at Brookings High School. I was able to catch 2 1/2 games thus far and have an update on some of the prospects. I want to focus on prospects that we haven't had updates on recently.   Games watched:   Hamlin 53 vs Dell Rapids 26   Dell Rapids St. Mary 60 vs Flandreau 43 (1st half only)   Castlewood 64 vs Madison 50    VanMeeteren was extremely active in this game, getting a ton of offensive tip-outs and offensive boards against Dell Rapids' 2-3 Zone. I don't have the stats, but he easily had maybe around 12-15 rebounds and possibly 7-8+ offensive boards. He earned Hamlin extra possessions. He also was protecting the rim and blocked 3-4 shots. He can get up and down the court very quickly for a 6'6” kid. He will need to be moved up the rankings slightly, and I think he can serve to be valuable to a D3/NAIA program with his 6'6” frame and athleticism. Of note, Zac popped a corner three in the game.     Laue was way too much to handle for Madison and completely dominated the 1st half. They didn't have anyone to defend and slow him down at the hoop. Bryon used his shear size to score over and gobble up offensive rebounds for putbacks. Madison then used 6'9” Brooks on him and brought an extra defender on post touches. 21 points and 17 rebounds for Laue for the game.     Maverick looks very big physically, and he's up to 6'6” with a beefier frame. He looks like a man amongst boys out there. Lebrun put in 19 points and 10 rebounds. He's signed to SDSU's football program.     We know that Trevon is a top three-point shooter in the state. Another thing that stood out to me from him is that he looks extremely athletic and can jump out of the gym. He can hang in the air, and his verticality translates to him being a great rebounding guard. Beckman finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.     One of the top catch-and-shoot three-point shooters and guard defenders in the state, Wadsworth's passing against Dell Rapids really stood out to me. Passed the ball really well, driving and kicking to shooters with crisp on-target passes. Found teammates in the middle of the zone with some solid passes. Not a point guard, but his open court handle looks pretty solid. I have him down for 14 points with 4 threes in the game. Wadsworth has an offer from Dakota Wesleyan.     Sheppard is a 2026 rankings stock-riser and he looks to have expanded his offensive game and skill-set. He's handling the ball more, and better. He's also being more aggressive overall and taking more shots and creating more shots. Without Parsley playing, Luke was essentially delegated to playing point guard and handling the ball. He had a ridiculous amount of rebounds and kept the ball and brought it up.     Stevenson came off the bench as Hamlin's sixth man. He's a long Sophomore guard that I think really emerges next season as a threat with Wadsworth. So next year we'll see what he's capable of, but he's a prospect with some solid upside. I have him for 8 points in the game.     Myles looked pretty good and seems more dynamic offensively as an offense creator and initiator. He was attacking off the dribble and getting into the heart of the lane. He finished at the rim with quick and explosive drives to the hoop. He's a good athlete and can jump, translating him to be a good rebounder as well. He'll be a 2026 stock-riser in the next update.     The 6'5” Junior really impressed me and he looks like a different player on the perimeter this season. He's living more at the three-point line, where he'll pull an open three, and also go off the drive. He jumps out of the gym and crashes the glass for offensive board put-backs. He flies around defensively and will jump and contest at the rim. Bass scored 16 points in the game.     Beckman and Maverick dominate most of the offensive opportunities, but Hanson is also capable of making a play when given the opportunity. He's a quick point guard that will pressure the ball, defensively. He hit a transition three and pulled off an impressive step-back jumper in the 1st half. He has the ability to create offense and be a threat when he chooses.       The Freshman entered the game in the 1st quarter and had a tough matchup against 6'9” D2 signee, Byron Laue. He's not quite there yet with his frame and playing strength, but you can see some upside in him as a prospect — especially if he keeps growing.     The 6'3” Freshman guard also got into the game in the 1st quarter. Veenhof had a very good game and was in the game when the action mattered most. He's thick and strong physically for a young guard. He hit a three and I have him for 7 points in the game.
