Today is National Signing Day for college football. On this day every year we release our All-Basketball Football Team. To be considered for this the player must be a ranked basketball prospect/under consideration to be ranked in hoops, but would make an outstanding football player. Quite a few of these guys will make their money at the next level on the gridiron. Here is our Offense!

QB [player_tooltip player_id='2323624' first='Davion' last='Thompson'] (Bolingbrook)

The 2027 class in football is stacked at the QB position, but none are hoopers. We will go with one of the best prospects in basketball regardless of class who happens to be a sophomore. Lefty with mobility and deep ball! Sounds good to us!

RB [player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Dierre' last='Hill'] Jr (Belleville Althoff)

One of the easiest picks on the board! The Althoff running back is perhaps the best football player in the state as an electric running back that is headed to Oregon. Has been on the hoops radar since coming into high school as well.

RB [player_tooltip player_id='2326960' first='Tyreek' last='Coleman'] (Waubonsie Valley)

Coleman is an Illinois State hoops commit that could easily suit up at running back for the Redbirds in a pinch. Explosive runner that has speed, elusiveness, and vision.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='2375614' first='Brayden' last='Trimble'] (Mt. Zion)

Trimble was a part of Mt. Zion's state final four team last year, but will enroll early at Illinois as a wide receiver. He is like Percy Harvin with the ball as an offensive weapon.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1545116' first='Terrence' last='Smith'] (West Aurora)

Smith will suit up for hoops this year despite the senior being an Iowa pledge for football. Legit D1 hooper as well if he went that route. Electric above the rim athlete that is a highlight on the gridiron.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1552476' first='Nasir' last='Rankin'] (Morgan Park)

Rankin is the #2 overall prospect in the 2026 class in football, but also a highly ranked basketball prospect. Explosive shooting guard that made spectacular catches all year long for the Mustangs on the gridiron.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='2105355' first='Davon' last='Grant'] (Dekalb)

One of the freakiest athletes regardless of sport will have his future be in football as an elite wide receiver with Calvin Johnson like tools. Undersized four in hoops that mauls on the offensive glass with second jump.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1845350' first='Stephen' last='Brown'] (Marist)

Long and athletic pass catcher that got injured during football this year. Top 5 basketball prospect as a power forward and top 25 in state as a wide receiver in football. Huge catch radius with high ceiling in either sport.

TE [player_tooltip player_id='2323267' first='JC' last='Anderson'] (Mt. Zion)

Anderson is a legit post prospect that was an anchor on a team that went to state last year. The 2026 prospect is one of the premier tight ends in the country. He has soft hands and is great running routes.

TE [player_tooltip player_id='2323271' first='Gavin' last='Mueller'] (Wheaton St. Francis)

Mueller reeled in a dozen offers for football before even playing this season at tight end. He was first known to us as a hoops prospect early in his career as a tough and athletic power forward.

OT Michael O'Connell (Glenbard West)

O'Connell is HUGE! The Northwestern commit is a 6'7” 270 pound mammoth human that is light on his feet. Plus pass protector and in the run game. We first saw him as a basketball prospect before he blew up in football.

OT [player_tooltip player_id='2323290' first='Claude' last='Mpouma'] (Mt. Carmel)

Same exact could be said about this Phillips junior. Massive big man on the hardwood that is light on his feet, great length, and is a physical force. Good raw tools for football and it sure translated as he stepped on the football field racking up dozens of big time offers almost immediately as a tackle.

G [player_tooltip player_id='2455406' first='Kevinas' last='Salkauskas'] (Stagg)

Tough and physical power forward that we feel would be a nice fit on the interior of our offensive line as a scrappy run blocker and pass blocker.

G [player_tooltip player_id='1157224' first='Mike' last='Jones'] (Chi-Prep)

Jones is a returner at the guard spot from last year. In hoops he is an undersized four with plus athleticism and strength. Will need to add some mass, but has a lot of tools to work with!

C [player_tooltip player_id='2323278' first='Ty' last='Laur'] (Pinckneyville)

Laur is going to be our pivot man making the calls. He has super long arms and excellent footwork as a big man in hoops. Those translate to football!
