2027 player rankings: Just keep watching

In this article:
The updated 2027 Tennessee player rankings are here.
And yes, there are 34 new players, and, of course, some movement inside the top 10.
It's early in the 2024 season. Prospects in this class have been playing well to start the season, but things are going to get interesting after Christmas.
Here are 3 things to watch for:
Point guards
Houston's
Justin Frison

remains No. 1 overall player in the class. He's also the No. 1 point guard in the class. Frison is coming off a 24-point performance in a win over Don Bosco. The Mustangs are dependent on his production. He's not afraid of big games. Houston's next test will be against Whitehaven this Saturday night. Frison can't slack off as he will be on the Tigers' scouting report.
Frison will need to keep separation between Upperman's

(No. 9), and Independence's Kobi Jackson (up two spots to No. 11).
There are things to like about all five prospects. Frison handles ball pressure well. Cobb is a walking bucket. Spight is an efficient scorer. Wade has good court vision and can make shots from the perimeter. Jackson is a crafty guard that has yet to hit his ceiling.
Good stock
Remember when I said to buy stock on Brentwood's
Davis Cochran

? Yeah, keep adding money to that investment portfolio weekly. The 6-foot-7 forward moved up seven spots to No. 4. Cochran has helped the program get off to a 5-1 start. He can play multiple positions. Cochran does a great job of taking advantage of mismatches.
Having fun
Bartlett's

moved down a spot to No. 6. The 6-5 wing is having fun for the Panthers, who are currently 7-1. He started the 2024 season with 18 points and 8 rebounds in a home win against Fayette Ware and was a bright spot for the program in last weekend's Iverson Classic Battle in the Bluff Showcase event. Jones has the trust of head coach Dion Real. He's Bartlett's best player on the perimeter. The Panthers want a TSSAA Division 1 Class 4A state title. Well, Jones needs to lead the way for it to happen. But, for right now, he's doing everything that is asked of him, and he's all smiles while doing so.
