Junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1766781' first='Christian' last='Bright'] (Green Hill) will be an attractive target for Division II college recruiters throughout his final AAU season, which begins later this month at the earliest due to rehab from quad contusion. Because Christian gets after it in the classroom he will be able to get looks from a program like Rhodes College (Memphis). Think Millikin University (IL), Wooster (OH), Washington & Lee University (VA), Case Western Reserve University (OH). If he elects to go D3, then these are gonna be the quality of options his ACT, grades, and skills open up.

Hello Mr. Force. Green Hill finished 19-13. It was a solid bounce back from where we were last year (11-17). I was blessed to have a productive year. I finished with recognitions as 1st team All-Wilson County, TSSAA All-District 7 Class 4A and TSSAA All-Region 7 Class 4A…only underclassman to be recognized as All-Tournament selection at the Willie Brown Christmas Invitational out at Father Ryan. Academically, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I'm waiting on the results from my 2nd ACT. I originally scored 28 but optimisitc I'll be in the 30s the 2nd go around. I'm hoping that leads to more collegiate interest. I'm currently on a 6 week rehab assignment for an injury to my leg (quad contusion). I'm hoping to be back around late April or early May for AAU. I appreciate the exposure and support you and Mr. Smith have shown/provided me. Thank you. 🙏🏾 - [player_tooltip player_id='1766781' first='Christian' last='Bright'] via DM 4/4/26

Why would Christian go D3? Quality of education. As Dennis Miller once said, "I don't want to go off on a rant here, but" Division 1 basketball ceased being primarily about academics (for athletes) about 100 years ago when the Big 10 fractured and University of Chicago dropped out. You can't serve two masters. University of Chicago recognized that if you prioritize athletic achievement over academic rigor, then you are asking the student-athletes to push their studies to the back of the line. That school found such a prioritization unsatisfying and left the prestigious Big Ten Conference by choice.

Point being D3 schools can NOT offer full-ride or even partial-ride athletic scholarships. It is forbidden by the NCAA. Not frowned upon, forbidden by the rule book. D3 schools that want to win basketball games sometimes (see also often) will skirt the system by offering student-athletes athletic scholarships dressed up as academic scholarships. Academic scholarships are allowed.

Still, most D3 colleges offer exceptional instruction and prestigious degrees. You have heard of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Johns Hopkins, Swarthmore, Washington University (STL), and on and on. All D3.

Ashby maintains a 4.0 unweighted grade point average (GPA) and runs with [program_tooltip program_id='2393604' first='Tennessee' last='Impact'] 3SSB this summer. If you haven't already, then you will see quite a bit of coverage on Ashby until the end of July (AAU's close). Chadwick is already able to commit (if he wants) to Milligan University and King (TN).

Milligan University's Buffaloes compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Put more simply [player_tooltip player_id='2402058' first='Ashby' last='Chadwick'] holds an NAIA offer from Milligan.

Class A standout and likely Mr. Basketball-candidate next year Nathaniel Cobb maintains a 4.0 GPA.

Pickett County Head Coach Lee Amonett raved about Nathaniel's breakout junior year as early as January 31st.

"Nathaniel Cobb has been fantastic," Coach Amonett shared with @PrepHoopsTN at the time. "He is putting up near triple-double numbers. He had 17p, 9a, 7r against Jackson County. His game has really stepped up this year. He is drawing a tough defensive assignment for us, as well. The [forwards] are handling the ball and are out at the forefront of what we [are] doing."

Over the next 15 months @PrepHoopsTN will do our best to feature high-academic college prospects.
