Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
Another prospect who was ranked during our first 2027 national rankings release, Wingard has the physical tools to be a major stock riser this summer. Now playing for TN Impact, Wingard’s transition ability should be a major boost to their 17 U team that found success at the 16 U level on the 3SSB circuit in July. Wingard was also spotlighted as a standout at the Dr Pepper Classic hosted at McCallie back in February. Tennessee’s 2027 class is one of their best in recent memory and Wingard is one of the top prospects to watch from the state.

Prep Hoops National Ranking: 114
One of the most athletic players in the country, Wingard can absolutely fly in transition and get above the rim with ease. That type of athleticism will give him the opportunity to play for a mid to high major program when the other parts of his game continue to be polished. Wingard had some loud highlights during the June live period with McCallie and had a 20 point 5 rebound game Vs the City Rocks at the 16 U level for Boo Williams in July. I’m honestly surprised a player with Wingard’s athletic ability isn’t highly regarded by other national rankings pages but maybe he will find his way into other national rankings by next summer.

6/20/25: High-level athlete. Ryan is a former #1 prospect. He plays guard and defends very well. For a surefire D1 target he does not score with ease. There is a rawness to his game that still must be sorted out. And yet colleges will watch him throughout his high school career for his size and athleticism.

played sparingly in Boo Williams’ blowout loss Friday. He scored twice in limited action though and caught a tricky lobbed outlet pass on the run. A split second later he adjusted his body and contorted to avoid a block attempt, finishing a layup. Wingard plucked away two steals. Ryan’s subpar box outs did catch my attention. Twice he failed to apply the body to his man as the shot careened his way. The second time it resulted in a bucket against.

Since the first time I watched Ryan play last year in action, I do believe that he proved he is a for-sure next-level type prospect. D1 schools should be taking a look his way, as he is one that brings intrigue with his 6-6 frame, his overall feel and vision, his ability to score in many ways, and his overall athletic presence on the court. Ryan displayed great touch and vision in finding teammates but can play/operate from multiple positions with his offensive game especially at 6-6. Looking forward to Ryan improving his ability to handle the ball in space and knock down the 15–17-foot jumper consistently.

2/21/25: Frankly, Ryan’s first half was rather forgettable. He did not seek touches offensively and was only modestly impactful on the glass. A Top 5 player, regardless of age, needs to be better.

11/8/2024: D1-caliber athlete right now. Ideal height for the position. McCallie’s leaper continues to work on the shooting and dribbling. When he elevates them to a high-major D1 level, then the sky truly is the limit. Wingard is ranked #2 in 2027.
