2024 Mayhem on Military Standout Guards: Part One

From top tier nationally ranked talent to thriving under-the-radar players, the event was tremendous all around. He found tough finishing angles to convert at the rim and found his teammates on paint touch kick outs and drop offs. Everything wasn't just downhill for the stoutly built guard. Perkins knocked down standstill and movement threes alongside a hesi floater in the lane and a fading jumper off the bounce. He made solid live dribble reads including a perfectly timed drop off assist to Barning dunk out of the pick-and-roll. Brown's tough shotmaking was notable. He delivered a couple of slick drop off passes and good reads that indicated his feel and playmaking upside. Nelson's crafty handle got him into the lane several times including a crossover into a scoop finish. Both of his made three pointers point to his shotmaking and shooting versatility: a deep contested catch-and-shoot three and pull-up three. Franklin's frame will need to fill out, but there is a long frame to work with. He caught an oop in transition, smoothly slashed to the rim to finish at the rim through contact and got a help strip from behind that led to free throws for Mt. Zion.
