About Jirak: The future Northern Iowa big man is one of the most uniquely talented players in the 2025 class. He has legitimate size at 6-10, and he has tremendous court vision and passing instincts. He grew up as a guard, had a huge growth spurt, and has maintained his guard skills. With his size he's able to see over the defense and he does a great job finding open teammates. On his post touches, he has great footwork and soft touch around the rim with either hand, and he has the ability to occasionally step out and knock down 3s. In addition to his work on the offensive end, he's a skilled defender who can switch and protect the rim.

Why he can win Mr. Basketball: A key piece on a pair of 4A state title teams, Jirak hasn't been the best player on either of those teams (although you could make a real argument he was the best player in the 2023-24 run), but following a few departures, he'll have a chance to have an even bigger impact. If he helps lead Valley to a three-peat, and is a dominant two-way player on the way there, he could grab some votes.
