Over the past two weeks, I have covered 80 of the top performing basketball players from the 2023-24 WIAA basketball season who are set to return to the hardwood for their respective teams in just a few weeks. My focus was on players in the Driftless Region, which I determined was comprised of the following conferences: Big Rivers, Cloverbelt-West, Coulee, Dairyland, Dunn-St. Croix, Lakeland-West, Middle Border, Mississippi Valley, Ridge & Valley, Scenic Bluffs, Six Rivers-West, South Central, Southwest Wisconsin and Southwest Wisconsin Activities League. Here are previews highlighting the scoring capabilities of top underclassmen scorers to watch for in the upcoming season from this region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1890447' first='Logan' last='Becker'], a junior from Aquinas, made his mark last season by scoring 15.8 points per game on 48.2% shooting from the field. With his well-rounded game and exceptional athleticism, Becker is expected to continue delivering high-impact performances for the Blugolds in the Mississippi Valley Conference, with reliability at all three scoring levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561902' first='Mason' last='Brone'] from G-E-T averaged 12.1 points per game with a solid 45.6% field goal percentage as a sophomore. He also shot a stout 39.4% from three, which leads this group and showcases his ability to drain the outside shot. Brone is a balanced scorer who can also get to the hoop off the drive and on the break, positioning him as a top offensive player in the Coulee Conference.

Darlington's [player_tooltip player_id='2045300' first='Broker' last='Buschor'] put his scoring skills on display during the 2023-24 season with an impressive 15.1 points per game while maintaining a strong 49.2% field goal percentage. The junior's efficient shooting and all-around dynamic offensive skillset will be crucial for Darlington as they look to leverage his play in the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League.

[player_tooltip player_id='2371688' first='Quinn' last='Gerke'], a sophomore representing the Tomah Timberwolves, averaged an astounding 18 points per game on 38.7% shooting during his first high school season. His scoring efficiency, combined with his ability to hit from outside the arc, indicate another impressive season is on the horizon for the 6'2” guard out of the MVC.

Combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2551616' first='Aiden' last='Keleher'], from Southwestern, emerged as a consistent scorer with 16.1 points per game in 2023-24. Keleher displayed an offensive mindset throughout the season and will undoubtedly be a focal point in Southwestern's offense. The six-footer showed he could hit the deep ball but did most of his damage inside the arc during his sophomore campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='2501090' first='Cooper' last='Lomas'] from Wauzeka-Steuben led his team with 17.6 points per game on an impressive 50.8% field goal percentage, which leads this group of players. His ability to efficiently convert shots inside the arc makes him one of the top scorers to watch in the Ridge & Valley conference, where he's expected to have another impactful season as a junior.

At 6'6”, junior [player_tooltip player_id='1976781' first='Brody' last='Olson']'s height, agility and reach make him a matchup problem for many teams the Hilltoppers face in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. The versatile big man from Glenwood City put up 15.8 points per game last season and will continue to be a challenge for defenses, inside and out, when we move into the 2024-25 WIAA season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2375323' first='Blake' last='Risler'] of Regis leads all scorers on this list, having put 20.3 points per game, making him one of the highest-scoring juniors in the region. The persistent offensive threat is a high-volume shooter who can convert from both inside and outside the arc. His scoring prowess will certainly remain an asset for the Ramblers in the Cloverbelt-West conference.

6'3” junior [player_tooltip player_id='2121317' first='Taylor' last='Williams'], of Lancaster, contributed 12.9 points per game with a 39.7% field goal percentage last season. Williams is a determined scorer who looks for cracks in the defense to exploit. He will continue to play a key role in Flying Arrow's offensive efforts in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference in the coming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2143926' first='Keaton' last='Wollan'] of Amery is another promising sophomore who impressed with 16.3 points per game and a 43.5% field goal percentage. His early success bodes well for his development as a premier scorer in the Middle Border conference, and the solid 6'2” guard's versatility will be key within Amery's offensive strategy.

These players represent some of the top proven and still emerging scoring talents in the region, with each bringing a unique style and skill set that could shape their teams' successes in the upcoming season.
