Attack. Attack. And attack some more. That is the mindset of Williams, a quick, athletic and super aggressive backcourt player from Lancaster who played well on Monday at the WBY Camp. In addition to getting to the basket and scoring or dropping the ball off to a teammate, Williams also hit a bit three-point shot and some clutch foul shots to secure a victory for his team. The returning second-team all-Southwest Wisconsin Conference performer is poised for a big season for an improved squad at Lancaster.

A combination guard with good strength, confidence to take the ball to the basket and the toughness required to make a difference on defense, Williams played a strong overall floor game in helping Wisconsin Hoops Select turn back Team Compete in a competitive game that went down to the last minute. Williams scored well off the bounce, handled the ball against pressure defense and was able to utilize his athleticism and jumping ability to grab rebounds on both ends of the court. A three-year varsity performer for Lancaster, Williams averaged 12.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists as a junior and is one of several key returning players for coach Brian Knapp.

A second-team all-league pick in the Southern Wisconsin Conference as a sophomore, Williams brings plenty of juice to the Lancaster lineup. He can defend, make plays off the dribble, get to the basket and haul down rebounds. Williams averaged 12.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while helping Lancaster to a 14-13 record and a spot in the Division 4 regional finals in 2023-24. He is one of five returning starters for coach Brian Knapp, giving the Arrows one of the most experienced squads in the sectional. Williams begins his junior season as a two-year starter and has scored 558 points during his prep career.

Like his teammate from Lancaster mentioned above, Williams also plays on the Prep Hoops Circuit for Wisconsin Hoops Select . While he didn’t need to do so in the game I watched, Taylor can fill it up from beyond the arc. With the game in hand midway through the first half, Williams did a very nice job facilitating and getting his teammates involved. His ability to hit from the outside means defenders need to stay close, giving Taylor the opportunity to use his strong handle to take his opponent off the dribble and convert at the rim. He is a creative passer, especially on fast breaks and will also frequently get out front as a rim-runner. He illustrated this on the final play of the game, which he finished with a one-hand, break-away dunk.
