About Amare
Expert Analysis
Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
Amare, a UW-Milwaukee commit who averaged nearly 40 points per game in his senior season, was getting buckets in front of his home crowd. He can change speeds at an elite rate, leaving opposing defenders in the dust on his way to the rim. The 6’2” guard is very quick and bouncy, being able to explode to the basket for high flying finishes. Hereford has one of the best pull-up jumpers I have seen in this class and elevates very well on his shot.

It’s very rare to see a 29 point performance lower a player’s scoring average. That’s how dominant Amare has been this season for Beloit Memorial. Westosha Central did the best they could on Tuesday night to slow Amare down, but the lefty guard still managed to lead his team to a 16 point win. Amare is typically at his best slithering through defenders to get to the rim, but Westosha kept their defense compact to try to keep him out of the lane. Hereford was able to take advantage as he knocked down a handful of pull-up jumpers at a high percentage throughout the game. One of the best available seniors in the Midwest.

A division 1 prospect at the point position. Challenging to stay in front of with the ball. Has an impactful first step and can get down hill in a hurry within the break phase. Finds most comfortability getting to the cup off the bounce but will showcase mid range and 3 point game at times as well. Uses speed and agility to his advantage. Drew a lot of contact tonight while driving. Scored nearly half of his points from the charity stripe making 15 at a high percentage. Got on a fast break off a turnover from a quick outlet for a one hand slam with plenty of bounce. A gamer who scores it at a high rate. Paced both teams with 36 and is averaging a high mark through senior campaign.

Hereford is off to a fantastic start for Beloit Memorial as he is averaging a state-best 39 points per game while leading the Purple Knights to a 7-0 record. He scored with efficiency in the win over Sun Prairie East, missing just a handful of shots. Hereford swished four triples, scored in transition, scored over taller defenders in the lane and made seven-of-nine foul shots. The state’s premier unsigned senior, Hereford’s recruitment has picked up of late, per Beloit Memorial coach Todd Marks. Appalachian State, Boston University, Brown and Detroit Mercy have expressed recent interest to go along with previous offers from Cal Poly, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.

Do yourself a favor and go and watch Hereford during his senior season at Beloit Memorial. He is worth the price of admission with his unique ability to finish off plays with his stellar footwork and deft use of the backboard. He is fearless going to the basket, and he finishes over and around bigger defenders more often than any other player in the state. Hereford owns a couple of NCAA Division I scholarship offers and will be taking some visits this fall. The school that ends up with Hereford, a tremendous leader and teammate, will be getting a steal.
