TCC Fall League Notes

I stopped in at TCC the past two Saturdays to catch some Tacoma fall league and was reminded how many younger players are getting ready to make their name this winter. Take a look at some notes from the action that includes up-and-comers, under-the-radar seniors, and some more familiar names from the TCC Fall League.    The speedy guard looks ready to take the reigns this season and lead a young Lincoln squad. He's a playmaker on both ends who has grown as a decision-maker and has been a reliable scorer who can make things happen off the bounce. He's improved from 3PT range and should be in for an exciting sophomore season.     Bellarmine played pretty tough today and Veler was a big reason why. He was strong driving middle and getting paint touches where he showed great vision to pass out or find cutters behind the defense. He was solid at the foul line and showed some good touch to score off two feet with some short-range turnaround jumpers.     Moen is a strong guard, he's good working off two and using pivots to find space, was patient with the rock even under pressure, and showed some good potential from 3PT. He's a solid, all-around player who should play a key role for the Bears this winter.     Preston is one of the seniors coming into this season who played a key role on last year's team and showed why he'll be an important piece again with his play today. He has a smooth jumper and when he's on he can get to his spots with a couple of dribbles and drain them. He was also lighting it up off the catch and hitting both in the midrange and from deep.     Davis continued his outstanding play today as Bremerton took on Spanaway Lake in a close game. He started off burying a long two, recognizing the defense sagging off just enough to calmly get his shot to go. Then made a few nice cuts to space off the ball and finished high at the rim. He seems to float effortlessly around the floor, gets into dangerous spots, and can attack from any spot on the floor. He will be one of the top players in the 2A again this season.     Alexander shared point guard duties last season but comes into this year as the main showrunner for Spanaway. He did a great job today setting up teammates in various situations, finding runners in transition, squeezing passes high and low through multiple defenders, and using his eyes to shift the zone defense and then find guys over the top on the weak side. He was a first-team all-league performer last season and looks ready to go for another this winter.     Price could be one of the best-kept secrets in the 2027 class. He has a natural shooting ability that should become his standout skill with more work and just has a motor and desire to play hard that helps him succeed across the board. He did a great job today of setting up his man on the perimeter with change of speeds and fakes and was poised when finding ways to finish in the paint. He should work his way into the starting five this winter and open up some eyes in his sophomore campaign.     Beyham was one of the more interesting new players I got to watch today. He's an incoming freshman and obviously caught my eye by simply being out there at 6-foot-10. But he wasn't just a big guy, he showed some good hands to catch tough passes, made some nice, quick dishes off of high post catches, and showed some good touch at times around the paint.
