Preseason Player of the Year: 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765506' first='Brady' last='Boulton'] (Montezuma)

This division likely comes down to North Mahaska and Montezuma again this year, and it's tough to choose between Boulton and the two possible choices from the Warhawks. We'll side with Boulton, the big-time scoring guard from Montezuma by a narrow margin.

First Team

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765506' first='Brady' last='Boulton'] (Montezuma): 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.6 steals

Boulton is a big-time scorer who can do so in a variety of ways. He shot the ball really well from 3-point range as a freshman, and while he didn't shoot it as well from distance as a sophomore, he improved the rest of his offensive arsenal, most importantly his ability to attack off the dribble and finish creatively around the rim. He led the Braves in scoring, assists, and steals, and was third on the team in rebounding.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2721760' first='Asher' last='DeBoef'] (North Mahaska): 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.8 steals

DeBoef was awesome as a junior for the Warhawks, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, while ranking second in assists and steals. He's an athletic 5-9 guard who rebounds at a ridiculously high level for a player of his stature.

2025 Gabe Hora (North Mahaska): 14.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.3 steals, 38.2 3P%

Hora is a nice complement to DeBoef in the Warhawks' backcourt, a sharpshooting off-ball guard with a quick release and plenty of range. He knocked down 86 3-pointers as a junior, which accounted for 36.5% of the team's total makes on the year.

2025 Peyton Roth (HLV): 21.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 steals

Roth was the only player to average in double figures last year for the Warriors, a volume scorer who does a nice job using his defense to spark his offense.

2025 Harrison Rhone (Colfax-Mingo): 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.8 steals

Rhone led the TigerHawks in scoring last season, and will be asked to carry a really heavy load this season following the graduations of the next eight scorers from last year's roster. He has a penchant for jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense.
