PH Expo: Team 9 Evaluations

The Prep Hoops Michigan Expo was in true form on Saturday, featuring some of the most exciting talent in the state of Michigan. There was a variety of players on hand for coaches and scouts to watch play. We're going to take a closer look at the athletes that played for Team 10. I liked the way that he could influence the game on both ends of the floor. Paige was an energy and effort player that made hustle plays on the defensive end of the floor. Offensively, he showed 3 point range on his jumper.     Zickert showed off a well rounded game, highlighted by a willingness and readiness to defend. He has good feet and a good frame that let's him take some chances and play physically on D. Zickert showed the ability to shoot from behind the arc, especially on the catch. He made some nice passes as well, including a flip up to a soaring teammate that ended in a layup.     Zeller is an exciting player with skills and upside. He seems like he keeps growing, so really has nice positional size and wingspan. Zeller does a nice job pushing pace with the dribble directly off the rebound. He's relentless around the rim and this resulted in a handful of put back buckets throughout the day. Zeller was able to strike from behind the arc, even with a contest.     Willick showed up to play in Grand Rapids. From what I saw, his defense carried the day for him, and that's definitely a compliment. I love any player that wants to D up at a showcase. Willick used anticipation to attack passing lanes and force turnovers. At least 1 of his steals turned into instant offense on the other end. I was also impressed with he way he recognized high percentage passes.     Moore was impressive with his play at The Expo over the weekend. He has a lot of positional strength and power and seemed to know how to use it at the event. Moore was comfortable and solid with his right. He was able to put the ball on the ground, attack straight line to the rim and get a bucket with a power finish.     Njenga was a big time player at The Expo. His improvement over the last 6 months or so was very apparent. He was a solid scorer around the rim with his body control and athleticism. Njenga showed he could dish the ball in traffic with a solid pass across the lane for an assist. He was one of the better help defenders on Saturday as well with at least 1 block and at least 1 forced turnover.     Brown drew eyes on his game last weekend. I really liked the way that he ran the floor offensively and got back on defense. Brown filled wings and trailed the ball handler on the break. He was successful, and probably at his best, when he got downhill with the ball and played off contact.     Weston was turning heads throughout the event. Easily one of, if not the best, ball handlers in the gym on Saturday. He had tricky handles that helped him put defenders on his hip all day. Weston had numerous right handed drives and finishes. Even if the defender knew it was coming, they couldn't stay in front of him. He finished through contact at least 3 times that I saw.
