Yesterday evening at the Hopkins School in New Haven, Connecticut, the Connecticut Elite Basketball Program hosted their Senior Showcase, invite only. Around 70 players from the Connecticut and New York area attended to compete in drills, receive high-quality basketball instruction, and play in multiple scrimmage games over two hours to impress themselves in front of various college coaches and personnel. I attended the well-run and enjoyable event, and here is part two of my standouts!

[player_tooltip player_id='2546919' first='Asher' last='Abeles-Tierney'] looked the part of a facilitator at the point guard position. He was making dimes both in transition and on the move in the half-court. He was finding cutters with ease with the right velocity on said passes. Even when the pressure came from the defense, he navigated it well and kept his dribble alive to find the open man on the perimeter. Additionally, he competed on the defensive end by getting into the grill of the ball handler and displaying great footwork by keeping his body in front when moving laterally.

[player_tooltip player_id='2553710' first='Brayden' last='Jones'] showed off a lot of interesting skills for a power forward. He scored well in the post on the block, manipulating his body to hit fadeaways off the glass by rising over the top of defenders. He would grab rebounds and push the pace, making strong outlet passes to his teammates for them to score easy buckets. His cutting off the ball was also marvelous, getting open and finishing some awesome reverse layups multiple times.

[player_tooltip player_id='2568341' first='Ty' last='Newsom'] was one of the youngest participants but clearly belonged among his peers. He showed off intriguing playmaking the entire night, both in the half-court and full-court settings. He found cutters easily on the perimeter while also consistently finding the open man on the move for easy points with a comfortable handle to boot. He was also competing on the defensive end and was truly making an impact on the game without being a scoring threat at all.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407059' first='Tyler' last='Uveges'] and his post-passing caught my eye while he was on the court. He was making good reads down on the block and finding open three-point shooters on the outside. He anticipated movement off the ball effectively and it was no problem finding cutters to the rim. He also rebounded well and looked comfortable running the break at times too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2633561' first='Jordan' last='Harris'] played hard and his effort stood out on the defensive side of the hardwood. He was playing tough guarding on the ball that led to steals and turnovers, while also having a big-time block and showing off his athletic ability. That said athleticism translated on the offensive end as well, as on the ball he was twitchy and was easily getting to the rim for layups. His catch-and-shoot three was also effective and looked smooth and silky.

[player_tooltip player_id='2622214' first='Mitch' last='DeBernardo'] was lights out from three-point range during the scrimmages. He was unstoppable off the catch with picture perfect mechanics, but he showed off his confidence as well by taking and hitting pull-up threes as well. His handle was also smooth and it helped him create space on the more athletic defenders to get his shot off.
