DeBernardo, a scoring guard out of the Brunswick School in Connecticut, shows the ability to score at multiple levels both on and off the basketball. He fills up a stat sheet with his ability to score, create for others, and willingness to mix it up on the defensive glass. He’s got some creativity off the bounce, shows nice burst when turning the corner out of ball screens, and is a shot maker with deep range on his jumper. He makes plays with a high basketball IQ, understands how to use screens to get open, and can get into his jumper off the bounce. Defensively, he gives good effort at the point of attack and has the size to guard either back-court spot.

DeBernardo, a member of the 16U HGSL squad, is a shot making guard out of the Brunswick School in Connecticut. Another high academic prospect, he’s an elite perimeter shooter that has really developed his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands over the last 12 months. He makes shots in catch and shoot situations and also does a nice job of moving without the basketball, utilizing screens to get open and making shots on the move. He’s gotten stronger, has a quick first step when attacking the rim, and is a crafty paint finisher. Beyond that, he has good feel as a creator and the vision needed to make a variety of passes in the half-court.

He was unstoppable off the catch with picture perfect mechanics, but he showed off his confidence as well by taking and hitting pull-up threes as well. His handle was also smooth and it helped him create space on the more athletic defenders to get his shot off.
