Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Uveges was competing super hard on the floor all day. The 6-foot-5 wing was playing a bit at the forward position and despite being undersized, was holding his own on the boards and in the post defensively. He also hit an open three (showcasing a nice-looking shot) and had some nice takes to the rim – he has solid touch and feel in the paint. Uveges will probably be a solid D3 hooper but would be smart to work on his handle and ability to create from the perimeter if he wants to play at the highest level possible. He’s a rising senior at Northwest Catholic High School.

and his post-passing caught my eye while he was on the court. He was making good reads down on the block and finding open three-point shooters on the outside. He anticipated movement off the ball effectively and it was no problem finding cutters to the rim. He also rebounded well and looked comfortable running the break at times too.

Rise: +6
The Northwest Catholic product is a high level rebounder, versatile defender, and efficient low post scorer. He makes a big impact right now on the defensive end where he cleans up the glass and shows a solid understanding of how to defend in the post without fouling, Offensively, he has good hands, knows how to move off the ball, and is a capable finisher around the rim. He also attacks the offensive glass and has shown an ability to pass out of double teams in the paint. If he continues to progress at the rate he has over the last year, he should be an impressive college prospect down the road.

Uveges, one of Connecticut’s more physically imposing underclassmen, is a thowback post presence for Northwest Catholic. A rugged and strong post defender, Uveges has an advanced understanding of how to defend in the paint as he walls up, moves his feet, and contests vertically. He’s a defensive anchor, serving as a high IQ, vocal piece defender on the back line. Offensively, he’s most effective right now on the block. He has good hands and is capable of scoring in one-on-one situations by the rim. He does a good job of crashing the offensive glass, makes plays out of the dunker spot, and is a reliable finisher with either hand.
