LAS VEGAS — The Border League has established itself as the premier fall high school/prep school basketball event on the west coast and the 2024 edition was no different. The event features many of the top high school and prep school prospects from around the country in a high level hoops showcase. We were in attendance at Coronado and Desert Pines high schools over the weekend and below are the most dynamic prospects we watched over the weekend.

AJ Dybantsa | Utah Prep

Dybantsa is a near-unstoppable force on the basketball court with his combination of size, length, elite athleticism and perimeter shot-making ability. The 6-foot-9 wing has the ball skills and feel to play on the ball as a primary decision-maker and offensive creator for himself and teammates and can slide off the ball where he can attack, score and create in set play situations. Dybantsa's ability to handle, accelerate and change speeds and direction allows him to consistently keep defenders off-balance and his vertical explosiveness makes him a high percentage highlight-reel finisher around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131779' first='Brandon' last='McCoy'] | St. John Bosco

McCoy's combination of strength and explosiveness is something that you rarely see from a prospect going into their junior season. The 6-foot-4 combo guard uses his physicality to shield off defenders en route to physical and highlight-reel finishes around the basket. McCoy is also a potent perimeter jump shooter who uses the dribble and footwork to create space to elevate into mid-range and three-point shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630617' first='Brayden' last='Burries'] | Roosevelt

Burries is unrelenting in his motor, physicality and willingness to make winning plays on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-5 wing peppered in mid-range and three-point jumpers throughout the event but he is at his best when putting his head down to aggressively attack the rim and finish through contact. Burries is a player who treats each opponent in front of him the same whether it is a big name school or not. The uncommitted senior is an underrated passer and playmaker on the national level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1301715' first='Cayden' last='Boozer'] | Columbus (FL)

Boozer might be one of the most under-appreciated prospects in the country as he often gets lost in the conversation of best players in the country with his own brother, Cameron, AJ Dybansta and others like [player_tooltip player_id='1432004' first='Darryn' last='Peterson']. The thing you can always expect when watching the 6-foot-4 point guard is a poise, steadiness and basketball IQ that few other high school prospects have. Boozer has the ability to control a game with his passing, scoring and on-ball defense, and while he might not be the most flashy or dynamic athlete in the gym, his ability to run the show for Columbus will translate to the next levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='1301713' first='Jamier' last='Jones'] | Oak Ridge (FL)

Jones is a freakish athlete at the wing spot, and, when you combine that with his 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame, it makes for an impact two-way prospect. Jones had a number of highlight-reel type finishes in transition and half-court offense and he has evolved into a playmaker for himself and teammates off the wing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1696183' first='Kayden' last='Allen'] | Montverde Academy (FL)

The wiry 6-foot-6 wing flashed an impressive scoring arsenal throughout this event with pull-up threes and mid-range jumpers off the bounce, crafty euro-style finishes on half-court drives to the lane and explosive above-the-rim finishes in transition settings. Allen is a versatile and dynamic playmaker on the wing with great size and length for the position.
