Area Rankings: Top 10 2025 Prospects in Southeast Iowa

Watkins was fantastic as a junior for the Falcons, helping lead them to their first state tournament. A lightning-quick guard who always plays under control, he's a highly efficient three-level scorer who knows how to get to his spots both off the dribble and off-ball movement. He put up 21.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.2 steals a game on 51-42-77 shooting splits while serving as the team's vocal leader.     Hodges was a key piece for Assumption during their 3A state title run last season, using his combination of length and athleticism to absolutely smother opposing star scorers. He's one of the best all-around defenders in the state, a versatile weapon who can guard one through five at this level. Additionally, he's talented as an offensive player, playing downhill and using his quickness to attack the rim and finish with authority.     Speaking of players who were great during the Knights' state title run last year, Jackson was named captain of the 3A all-tournament team because of his strong play. He's a smart, quick guard who do dominate the game on either end of the floor. He puts constant pressure on opposing defenders with his ability to break the defense down and attack off the dribble. He averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game as a junior.     Haack may be one of the best kept secrets in the state, an intriguing combo forward who can score inside and out, protect the rim, create plays for his teammates, and dominate the glass. Hidden away in Marengo, he averaged 21.1 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 4.2 blocks per game on 46-33-65 shooting splits, and he may just be scratching the surface of his potential as a two-way player. As he continues to improve as a shotmaker and creator, and play alongside more talented players, he could skyrocket.     Kerkhoff is a sharpshooting lefty wing with good size and a pure stroke from 3-point range. He recently committed to play his college ball at D2 Wayne State (NE), where he'll provide them with a high-level shooting threat who can also provide some length and versatility on the defensive end. He averaged 10 points a game and shot just under 44% from 3-point range as a junior and will be asked to step into an even bigger all-around scoring role as a senior.     Odefey is an intriguing young wing with big, broad shoulders and eye-popping athleticism, as his baseline drive and explosive dunk at the state tournament showed. He averaged just 6.6 points a game as a junior, but provided some real value as a versatile, strong defender, and he should step into a bigger offensive role as a senior.     Schmeltzer looks like a football player, a big, physical forward who loves to throw his body around and use his physicality to his advantage on both ends of the floor. He has soft hands and good touch around the rim, and he controls the glass on both ends of the floor.     Shadrick is a big, physical wing with great court vision, feel for the game, and passing instincts. He can play bully ball against smaller defenders, either posting them up or backing them down from the wing and getting to the rim, and he's a good enough shooter that it needs to be respected. He has bounced around to a few different schools in the last few years, but will provide North with a skilled playmaker who loves to get his teammates involved.     Washington is a big, physical combo forward who can play inside and on the perimeter. He has quick feet and soft hands that he uses to finish around the bucket and control the glass.     Edwards was really good at the state tournament in March for the Wolves and shot up the rankings a good amount as a result of his strong play. He's a lead guard with tremendous size and length at 6-5/6-6, and he shoots it really, really well off both the dribble and the catch, knocking down 41.3% of his 3-point attempts as a junior.
