Nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops. That is never more true than doing our annual series of fall showcase events. This past Sunday, we hosted our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase which is the single best event we put on each year. Over 150 of the states best freshmen descended upon Fishers High School to play in front of our scouting staff as well as many area high school and grassroots coaches. Throughout the week, we will be pumping evaluations on every single kid that attended this event. For this one, we look at the players that made up Team 7.

***As you can imagine, trying to cover 150+ prospects in a single event is a very daunting task. Also, there always end up being a couple of jersey number discrepancies, so if you attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and DID NOT receive an evaluation, please reach out to Brandon Ramsey via email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or on Twitter @BRamseyKSR.***

We had several young prospects from Merrillville High School come down to the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and it appears that Coach Bo Patton will be reloading in the coming years. Jones was dynamic with the ball in his hands and did a great job of finishing against size at the end of his drives. He also knocked down a three-point shot during 5-on-5 action. Skilled, smaller guard that can really play.

Dean found a lot of success in transition proving himself capable of playing either on or off of the ball throughout the event. When he was leading the break, the 5'10" guard from Mishawka High School made sound decisions and displayed quickness end-to-end, and then he had a great run along the sideline that he finished with a layup. His ball skill and overall quickness will set up him up for success down the road as a backcourt prospect.

Three-point shooting ability was the skill that most stood out with this 6'1" prospect from Hamilton Southeastern High School. He paid a pair of deep three-point shots in one of the 5-on-5 games that we watched. Radovich's ability to stretch the floor several feet beyond the arc really opened up the offense while also allowing him to get clean catch-and-shoot looks. That smooth stroke and quick release will continue to carry his game for years to come.

Another one of the several very talented prospects from southern Indiana, Bowman came up to the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase from Crawford County High School. The 5'11" guard was very active and effective in transition with a couple of athletic finishes while showcasing good, all-around playmaking ability with the ball in his hands. His ability to finish against size was very impressive and a testament to his fluid athleticism.

This left-handed wing from Chesterton High School had a very smooth, repeatable outside shot that he had on display throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Huwig knocked in a couple of catch-and-shoot attempts during 5-on-5 action and was an active contributor early in 3-on-3 play as well. His positional size and length helps him to operate off of screening action and get clean looks from beyond the arc.

Smith was a prospect that we had no prior knowledge of but really shined at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. That is why events like this are so valuable. The 6'2" guard from Fairfield High School knocked in a handful of tough jump shots showcasing the ability to create his own at multiple different levels on the floor. He was also a very good and willing passer. His overall playmaking ability should make him quite a player down the road.

A versatile guard from Shakamak High School, Miller displayed the ability to play either on or off of the ball on the perimeter at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He has the shooting touch and quick release of an off-ball guard, but did enough as a creator to serve as a secondary playmaker in the half court. One of Miller's highlights was a tough left-handed finish in transition where he showed some open floor quickness and athleticism.

Szaferski can flat out play. We tweeted about him during the event and he remained a standout throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. There is obviously no shortage of talent right now at Bishop Luers with the Truesdale twins both committed to Central Michigan, but they have some talent coming up the pipeline as well led by this 5'10" playmaking point guard. Whether he was scoring it himself or setting up his teammates, Szaferski was consistently making an impact with the ball in his hands offensively.

Add this prospect to the long list of young players coming into the Ben Davis High School program. Leye had some intriguing length and athleticism on the perimeter that he used to stand out in transition with a couple of tough finishes. He was effective off of the throw ahead as a right hand driver who could get downhill and then explode vertically to finish. Leye has some promising two-way upside on the perimeter.
