Expert Analysis
Logan Greenwell | Prep Hoops Scout
The smooth sophomore guard has been on a heater throughout the sectional. He’s electric with the ball in his hands. He’s capable of scoring all over the floor. Nice shooter from deep with good range and quick trigger. Really good at getting in the lane and finishing with a floater. Does a good job not penetrating too deep and plays with his head up finding open teammates.

We have already identified Szaferski as one of the better pure point guards in Indiana’s Class of 2028. The 5’10” playmaker got some valuable varsity experience as a freshman and will be asked to step into a larger role as a sophomore at Bishop Luers High School. Based on what we saw on Sunday, he is up for the task. Szaferski is a pass-first point guard with excellent instincts as he drives to the basket. He passes it so well with both hands from a live dribble and has a great feel for the game while playing without turning the ball over.

Bishop Luers has picked up a couple of transfers heading into this winter that will make an instant impact, but Szaferski is a returning guy that will look to take over a larger role as well. The 5’10” playmaking point guard got his feet wet as a freshman at the varsity level, but now is ready to really run the show for a team that should once again be very competitive in Class 2A.

One of the best pure floor generals in Indiana’s rising sophomore class, Szaferski earned some varsity minutes for Bishop Luers this past season. Now, as a sophomore, he will be asked to take over a much larger role which he looks more than ready to do. Szaferski is an elite passer and crafty enough with the ball in his hands to get consistent paint touches, draw secondary defenders, and make the right read. Adding some more scoring prowess will take his game to another level.

One of the more impressive pure point guards at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Szaferski is a name to remember in the Class of 2028. There is enough veteran talent at Bishop Luers right now that carving out a role as a freshman could prove difficult, but there are a lot of places where this 5’10” point guard would play from day one. He is a really talented playmaker.

Szaferski can flat out play. We tweeted about him during the event and he remained a standout throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. There is obviously no shortage of talent right now at Bishop Luers with the Truesdale twins both committed to Central Michigan, but they have some talent coming up the pipeline as well led by this 5’10” playmaking point guard. Whether he was scoring it himself or setting up his teammates, Szaferski was consistently making an impact with the ball in his hands offensively.
