Nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops. That is never more true than doing our annual series of fall showcase events. This past Sunday, we hosted our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase which is the single best event we put on each year. Over 150 of the states best freshmen descended upon Fishers High School to play in front of our scouting staff as well as many area high school and grassroots coaches. Throughout the week, we will be pumping evaluations on every single kid that attended this event. For this one, we look at the players that made up Team 4.

***As you can imagine, trying to cover 150+ prospects in a single event is a very daunting task. Also, there always end up being a couple of jersey number discrepancies, so if you attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and DID NOT receive an evaluation, please reach out to Brandon Ramsey via email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or on Twitter @BRamseyKSR.***

As we have mentioned in a few of these evaluations, we had several prospects come down from Merrillville High School which is a school that is always producing talent. This 5'7" point guard was talented with the ball in his hands showing off a crafty floater in the lane that he used to finish against opposing size. The left-handed guard consistently played with two feet in the paint and was able to make plays from the spots that he got to.

Another prospect from up at Gary West Side High School, Johnson was an impressive playmaker throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He used a little heavy step move to get his shoulders by his defender and play from an advantageous position in the lane. Once there, he could either kick out to his teammates or finish with a variety of floaters and runners.

This prospect from South Central (Elizabeth) High School stood out during a couple of different stretches at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and we tweeted about his performance during the event. He displayed a very quick release on his shot in the half court, made some great plays in transition, and then finished around the basket when he would penetrate the lane. Hobbs has a well-rounded offensive skill set for a young guard.

Clark first caught our eye on Sunday with an impressive coast-to-coast drive and finish. His ability to go get the rebound from the guard spot, and then push the tempo in transition, was something that he did several times throughout the event. The 6'0" guard out of Vincennes Lincoln High School was a very willing passer in 5-on-5 action as well and played with a consistently high motor defensively with good understanding of team defensive concepts.

There is a lot of young talent coming up in southern Indiana right now with Rousch being a name we had heard some rumblings about heading into the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The little bit of hype proved to be worthwhile throughout our event. Roush made a handful of excellent plays in the half court as a slasher and right hand driver. He was also very effective as a passer displaying some great court vision. The Austin High School product has some athletic tools to work with as well as he continues to develop his game further.

One of the more talented perimeter prospects at the event, we highlighted Lewis as a Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase top performer following the event. The 6'2" guard from Pike High School displayed his versatility on Sunday as an athletic finisher, skilled playmaker, and high upside defensive presence. Lewis was dominant in transition with the ball in his hands and looked like a player who could factor into the equation at Pike High School at some point in the near future.

Kerrigan was one of those players who you could plug and play in a handful of different settings. He was effective in 3-on-3 play because of his willingness to cut and hard and move without the ball. Then, when we transitioned to 5-on-5 action, the Park Tudor High School prospect was always willing to make the extra pass and could attack closeouts downhill when the opportunity presented itself. He was a solid all-around role player for the teams he played with on Sunday.

Pearce was another one of those southern Indiana prospects that we mentioned earlier as he also suited up for Team 4 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The Lanesville High School prospect has some impressive physical size for a young prospect. At 6'2" with some length, he already has the requisite positional size to play a guard spot. He was a willing rebounder from the perimeter as well. There is definitely some upside to work with over the coming years.

Porter showed his ability to help in rebounding efforts from the perimeter and was a hard-nosed defender throughout the event as well. The 5'11" guard certainly was never afraid to mix it up against opponents with a little more size. He also showed off some impressive combo moves with the ball that he used to get downhill and penetrate the defense. Look for him to continue to develop into a potential piece down the road for Perry Meridian High School.

Teixeira wasn't quite a big as some of the other interior prospects at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, but he made up for the inch or two height discrepancy with his physicality and quick footwork. The Crown Point High School post presence was able to score on the block when the ball was thrown to him and did a good job of maintaining spacing from the dunker's spot as the ball was driven. He was an effective rebounder and defender as well.
