Nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops. That is never more true than doing our annual series of fall showcase events. This past Sunday, we hosted our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase which is the single best event we put on each year. Over 150 of the states best freshmen descended upon Fishers High School to play in front of our scouting staff as well as many area high school and grassroots coaches. Throughout the week, we will be pumping evaluations on every single kid that attended this event. For this one, we look at the players that made up Team 2.

***As you can imagine, trying to cover 150+ prospects in a single event is a very daunting task. Also, there always end up being a couple of jersey number discrepancies, so if you attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and DID NOT receive an evaluation, please reach out to Brandon Ramsey via email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or on Twitter @BRamseyKSR.***

There is usually a steady stream of talent coming through Homestead High School and we were happy to welcome several of the young Fort Wayne area prospects down to our events on Sunday. Wagner is a 5'10" freshman guard that looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands. He can get penetration off of the dribble, make plays for his teammates after getting a paint touch, or turn the corner downhill to score it himself.

Bishop was consistently involved in the action during 5-on-5 play on Sunday. The long, 6'0" guard from West Central High School finished in transition multiple times both off of the throw ahead when running the wings or attacking as the primary ball handler. He also knocked down a three-point shot for Team 2 in one of the games we watched. There are some projectable physical tools to monitor as this backcourt prospect continues to develop.

Showcasing good size on the wing, Noble was able to create matchup problems during both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 play. Against smaller defenders he used his strong, 6'2" frame to take them around the basket to score. Then, against bigger defenders, he displayed some perimeter skill level and beat them off of the dribble. The Floyd Central High School product was good at slashing his way into the paint and drawing fouls throughout the event.

Purdy was a good looking catch-and-shoot threat the Sunday's Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 5'11" guard from Terre Haute North High School was at his best when working off of the ball. He was effective running off of screening action and played with good pace to create separation and get open on the perimeter. Purdy has a quick release that he used to make a few three-point shots in 5-on-5 play. As he made shots he also was able to then attack more aggressive closeouts to finish at the rim.

In 3-on-3 play, Glasco consistently played off of two feet which is an impressive habit for a young guard. That allowed him to pivot around and make good plays when up against size around the basket. He also made a tough pull-up jump shot. Then, in 5-on-5 action, the Pike High School guard utilized a very quick crossover to create penetration from the perimeter. He was effective in transition in the 5-on-5 setting as well. As he physically develops and gets bigger his ball skill will really start to shine.

It is always impressive to watch some of these young, smaller guards drive it so fearlessly. Oliver was never hesitant to attack the paint and consistently made good decisions as he would attract the attention of bigger secondary defenders. The point guard from Indiana Creek High School showcased similar tenacity on the defensive end of the floor where he competed hard against bigger opponents.

One of the more talented playmakers in the gym on Sunday, McDuffey is excellent at getting to his spots off of the dribble and can score at a high level from the lead guard spot. He has a deep bag of dribble moves that he uses to create separation for pull-up jump shots and can get downhill to finish with a floater in the intermediate range or get all of the way to the rim. The Ben Davis High School product is definitely one of the next guards in a long line of successful backcourt prospects for the Giants.

There is a high level of versatility to Carmichael's game. The 6'2" wing from White River Valley High School first stood out in 3-on-3 play making a deep three-point shot and showcasing some perimeter skill. Then, in 5-on-5 action, Carmichael used his size to score around the basket which included a tough left-handed finish. His inside-outside game was really impressive and that versatility will be a staple of his game in the years to come.

After years of covering his older brother who is now at Grace College, we have another Hayworth coming through the system at Concordia Lutheran. Luke showed off his athleticism, strength, and rebounding ability at Sunday's Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He is versatile enough offensively to score out on the perimeter or around the basket, but it is the physical and athletic tools that really stand out right now. Hayworth will definitely be one to follow in the Fort Wayne area over the next few years.

One of the several talented young big men at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Kostbade impressed with his interior scoring ability on Sunday. The 6'5" big man from Chesterton High School displayed the ability to rim run in transition where he got a couple of easy buckets including a dunk. His length was a consistent factor on the defensive end of the floor as well. For a young big man, Kostbade had good footwork and overall mobility/agility.
