Freshman Series: Point Guards

In this article you will find the best point guards entering high school. This list is stacked with talent and athleticism. So far, I've seen him fair pretty well and his defense has been stout. He also appears to be one of the fastest players on the court, even though he is only a freshman. In the games that I have watched him play, he plays fast and confident. He is more athletic than some opposing players expect and gets steals by playing the passing lanes. The crafty guard knows how to get to his spots and hits at a high percentage. A majority of his shots come from behind the 3-point line or right at the rim, but he can hit from the mid-range too. Scoring is his specialty and he can score in bunches. The attention his shooting ability draws, opens up a lot of shots for his teammates. I also like his effort and energy on defense. On offense he can create his own shots, or he can drive and dish. It is truly pick your poison with him. Defensively, he uses his quickness and energy to stifle opposing ball handlers. He likes to make the right plays and doesn't force much. The Democracy Prep guard's top skills are finishing tough lay ups and 3-point shooting. He seems to draw a decent number of fouls, and knocks down his free throws. I also like his defensive play. He plays with a lot of toughness, and is consistently a pest on defense. On offense he likes to drive when given the chance, but has also shown an ability to hit jumpers. He plays with a lot of tenacity and does not take possessions off. His top skill on offense is his shooting. Darden knows how to be deceptive and can get his own shots in transition and in half court sets. He is likely most well-known for his ball handling skills. Although he goes up against long defenders, he does a nice job of protecting the rock. Defenders also have to respect his driving ability, and he has developed a mid-range shot for when they overplay him. The next step in his game will be becoming a better defender. Booker can fill it up from behind the 3 point arc and scores a lot of lay ups as well. He is tough for defenders to keep up with and does not necessarily need a pick to get separation. On defense he uses his agility to make hustle plays.
