He does a great job of keeping his head up when handling the rock, and he looks for his shooters often, knowing he has the defense’s attention. He also hits holes when there’s an opportunity to get to the cup, and he goes up fearlessly. On the defensive end, he gets in passing lanes and doesn’t let his matchup get comfortable.

His feel for the game and shooting touch give him a clear advantage, as he constantly finds gaps in the defense and confidently lets it fly from deep when defenders lose him in the shuffle. On the year, Cuello has knocked down 38 three-pointers at a 45% clip, making him one of the more efficient perimeter threats in the 2028 class. He also brings strong two-way value, getting after it defensively and averages 2.7 steals per game.

While he can also find his shooters in the corners and dish out assists. On defense, Cuello is a dog and he doesn’t take possessions off. When he creates a turnover, he can push transition as well.

The high IQ guard has good court vision, and can make plays for his teammates. I also like the pace that he plays with, as he keeps defenders guessing and on their heels. When it comes to Cuello’s defense, he stays in front of his man with his lateral quickness and he can push transition if he collects a steal.

I liked what I saw from the freshman on Thursday night. Cuello was decisive with the rock in his hands and facilitated a decent amount of offense for the Dragons. His best play of the day was when he jumped into a passing lane and came up with a steal that he then took the rest of the way for 2 points.

I’m a big fan of his fearless demeanor and he is always playing with intensity. When it comes to his defense, he can make deflections or pick his opponents pocket.

Cuello has a high IQ and sees the floor at a high level for a freshman. He is likely most well-known for his ball handling skills. Although he goes up against long defenders, he does a nice job of protecting the rock. Defenders also have to respect his driving ability, and he has developed a mid-range shot for when they overplay him. The next step in his game will be becoming a better defender. As he’ll have to guard some of these other extremely talented guards on this list.

Be on the lookout for Cuello. Doral will be building from the ground up which should give the PG an opportunity to shine. He can have an impact with his deep range shooting ability.

Cuello is a player that we’ve gotten to watch throughout his middle school career. He is a skilled ballhandler and shooter. The talented PG will attend Doral, with the opportunity to a key building block to the program.
