Portland State held its annual elite camp this past Friday and many of the state's top players came ready to play. It was a solid afternoon of action at the Viking Pavilion and we had the opportunity to watch much of the competition. After looking at our own notes and talking to others who also observed, here's a look at some of the top defenders in attendance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1653212' first='Kareem' last='Artharee'] (2026 Gresham) - we didn't see a lot of opportunities on the offensive end, so he tried to make his mark on the defensive end. used his athleticism and footspeed to his advantage to cover a lot of ground, keeping his assignment in front of him. helped out on the boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2021519' first='Dayton' last='Jenkins'] (2026 Westview) - really used his length, timing, and leaping ability to be a threat as a shot-blocker. probably registered at least five blocks both in the halfcourt and transition settings. was also very aggressive offensively finishing at the hoop in creative ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='2722533' first='Braxton' last='Long'] (2025 Sprague) - another guy who used his length and timing to register blocks, steals, and deflections. had a nose for where the ball was going and had the quickness to get his hands on it. on offense, scored a handful of tough buckets in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='1379047' first='Keenan' last='Reckamp'] (2025 Southridge) - lots of hustle all-around but in particular had the motor defending the basketball. was always in the battle for loose balls and rebounds, and was generally very scrappy. shot the ball fairly well from multiple distances as usual on offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1368229' first='Peyton' last='Reyes'] (2025 Mountainside) - as always, brought the energy, tenacity, and ballhawk mentality on D. was an absolute pest on opposing ball-handlers and got a number of steals that led to easy layups. fearlessly took on assignments of any size, even in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='1611748' first='Warren' last='Stanton'] (2025 West Linn) - constantly used his long arms to disrupt opposing ball-handlers and get into the passing lanes. used his athleticism to also create havoc as a shot-blocking threat. handled and passed the ball well on the offensive end.
