With the spring and summer AAU season coming to a close, sooner rather than later the 2024-25 high school basketball season will be just around the corner as we quickly approach the fall. Schools and coaches will prepare their student-athletes for the fun and competitive season ahead all over the six states in the New England area. In this School Team Preview series, I hope to highlight individual teams in the region and give insights on which players I expect to make an impact in the upcoming season. Let's get started!

Team: St. Paul's School (NH)

Head Coach: Max Gordon

2023-24 Season Record

The Big Dogs on Campus

There are two players I expect to make a major impact on the Pelicans. Leading the squad will be senior and Princeton commit [player_tooltip player_id='2325734' first='Landon' last='Clark']. A true point forward with a tight handle, his basketball IQ shows brightly as he has an innate ability to make plays for others with decisive and high-velocity passes while also getting to the basket and stretching the floor from the outside. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2325782' first='Justin' last='Huang'] looks to put up big scoring totals for St. Paul's with a great perimeter game. With the talent to create his own offense, he should thrive with the ball in his hands by scoring off the bounce from three and in the mid-range while also providing defensive versatility and instincts on the other end.

Additional Difference Makers

Five other players should be very important for the Pelicans this upcoming year on a loaded and deep team. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2418200' first='Mekhi' last='Simmons'] brings energy and juice the floor with above-average passing chops to boot. Twitchy and fast to the cup, he gets great separation on his drives and combines that with a soft pull-up middy and good decision-making to cutting teammates in the half-court. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1532422' first='Ethan' last='Downey-Lamprey'] is a hard-nosed glue guy type which any team needs to succeed and sustain a winning mentality. With high effort on the boards and guarding up and down on the opposite end, his tough style of play will be highly beneficial in crucial moments of games while also providing offensive value with his excellent off-the-catch jump shot. Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1437580' first='Treyvon' last='Miller'] will bring a lot of value in both off-ball and on-ball offensive scenarios. He can cut and move without the ball, make putbacks through traffic, and also finish drives to the rim taking on contact. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2465140' first='Parth' last='Miglani'] is a lights-out shooter who is comfortable making shots from all angles. He also has deceptive athleticism, attacking closeouts in the half-court and running the floor in transition. Senior forward and Harvard football commit [player_tooltip player_id='2325757' first='Teigan' last='Pelletier'] brings his football skills to the basketball court. A rebounding menace, he will put up points with his athletic gifts while also defending with intensity throughout any game.

Underclassmen To Keep an Eye On

There is a pair of underclassmen, in particular, to watch next season for the Pelicans, and they are both freshmen. Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2510362' first='Quintin' last='Eason'] has a projectable frame with years to grow. His jump shot looks promising and can punish defenders at the basket on his drives while competing hard on the other end of the floor. Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2569698' first='Raymond' last='Farmer'] has good ball-handling skills with on-ball creation upside. He can make plays off the bounce with a scoring and playmaking blend while defensively being a pest guarding the point of attack.
