Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
At 6-foot-5 and with very solid athleticism, Huang is an intriguing scholarship-level prospect, especially when you consider his shooting ability. Against Milton, he was flying off screens with great pace and was able to shoot with absolutely no balance, much like his teammate Clark, from both the mid-range and beyond the arc. When he gets a head of steam, he can also finish above the rim with good body control and leaping ability. He plays hard and never holds the ball too long – he’ll always make the simple extra pass. Huang recently de-committed from the US Naval Academy and reopened his recruitment.

Huang’s recruitment came to an end when he announced that he will attend the United States Naval Academy. One of the top perimeter shooters in New England, Huang quickly made a name for himself after heading to St. Paul’s from Michigan. He has great size at the guard spot, a college ready frame, and is a better athlete than he gets credit for. He’s an elite spot up shooter from behind the arc, but also does a great job in the mid-range and can create space off the bounce. Defensively, he has the ability to guard up and down a position as he’s quick enough laterally to guard on the perimeter and strong enough physically to guard in the post. Huang gives Navy another quality recruit in this class and has the opportunity to develop into one of the better two-way wings in the Patriot League over the next four years.

Huang, who came to St. Paul’s from Michigan, has exploded onto the scene this season. He’s a big time threat from behind the arc, both off the bounce and the catch, and has a high release point that allows him to get his shot off against most defenders. Huang is a threat in the mid-range as he gets into his pull up game off a mix of straight drives and hesitation or dribble combos. He’s a versatile, multi-positional defender that can turn defense into quick offense.
