Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1289076' first='Eli' last='Lindsey'] (6-5) and [player_tooltip player_id='2399607' first='Jaxson' last='Wendhausen'] (6-4) both earned first-team all-league honors as juniors and form the best one-two punch in the SWAL. In addition, junior [player_tooltip player_id='1874969' first='Drew' last='Aschliman'], who made the game-winner in the D4 title game against St. Joseph, also returns. Size is a big plus for the Pointers with seven players at least 6-foot-3 on the pre-season roster. Darlington, once again, figures to challenge Mineral Point after the two teams tied for the SWAL crown last year. Darlington returns just one starter in junior [player_tooltip player_id='2045300' first='Broker' last='Buschor'], but the Redbirds have a couple of fast-rising sophomores in guards [player_tooltip player_id='2505508' first='Zeke' last='Zuberbuhler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2509473' first='Dante' last='Glendenning']. Marshall and Belleville are among the favorites in the Southern Division of the Capitol Conference. The interesting thing about that nugget is coach TJ Zweifel left Belleville after last season and was hired as the new coach at Marshall in late spring. Marshall is led by two-time first-team all-league selection [player_tooltip player_id='1883464' first='Kenyon' last='Miggins'] while Belleville returns one of the elite guards in the league in junior [player_tooltip player_id='2499896' first='Jackson' last='Scholey']. At Lomira, the Lions have a new coach in Dan Domask, who guided Waupun to the WIAA Division 3 state title in 2016. Domask will utilize the talents of promising 6-foot-9 junior [player_tooltip player_id='1561934' first='Jacob' last='Broeske'] along with the toughness of senior [player_tooltip player_id='1289080' first='Jackson' last='Goebel'] (6-1). Lancaster competes in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference against several Division 3 schools and is led by the all-around play of junior [player_tooltip player_id='2121317' first='Taylor' last='Williams']. Pardeeville is considered one of the favorites in the Trailways West Conference and returns a pair of all-league performers in [player_tooltip player_id='2381729' first='Caleb' last='Gard'] and Eli Achterberg.

Pre-Season All-Sectional Team:

An unselfish, skilled and versatile wing prospect, Lindsey's biggest attribute is his ability to win games. In his three years of varsity play at Mineral Point, Lindsey has helped the Pointers to 71 victories, two league titles and one state championship. The two-time first-team all-SWAL performer recently earned an NAIA scholarship from nearby Clarke University in Dubuque due largely to the positive impact he consistently makes on the floor. Lindsey has the size, mobility and toughness to guard different positions and doesn't shy away from contact near the basket. He averaged 11.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Pointers went 28-2 and won the Division 4 state championship last season.

One of two sophomores to earn first-team all-SWAL honors last year -- along with Southwestern's Aiden Keleher -- Buschor is a physical backcourt prospect who competes with a very high basketball IQ. He does an excellent job of letting the game come to him and getting his teammates involved. And when the time comes for him to produce some points, he is more than capable as he gets to the basket and the foul line while also drilling long three-point jump shots. Buschor had a strong spring/summer for the [program_tooltip program_id='2078835' first='Wisconsin' last='Swing'] program after averaging 15.1 points and 6.4 rebounds as a sophomore for a Darlington squad that went 24-3 under coach Tom Uppena.

Broeske competed with the [program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro'] 16U squad over the spring/summer while also becoming accustomed to the coaching strategy of Lomira's new head coach, Dan Domask. He made steady strides in his game, showing the ability to score from different places on the court. He is a load in the paint because of his size and strength, but he can also float outside and make three-point jump shots. An unselfish player who uses his good court vision to pass out of double teams on the block, the returning first-team all-Flyway Conference selection averaged 14.4 points and 12.3 rebounds as a sophomore. Broeske could possibly become the most dominant individual player in a Flyway Conference that returns plenty of talent at several schools.

A lightening bolt with the ball in his hands, Miggins excels in the open court. He can advance the ball with his dribble, his passing and his speed about as well as any guard in the state's 2025 class. In the half court, Miggins knows how to run a team and how to score. He averaged a team-best 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4,4 assists as a junior as Marshall went 16-12. He is one of four returning starters for first-year coach TJ Zweifel and teams with senior [player_tooltip player_id='2621276' first='Teseo' last='Ruelas'] and his younger brother, sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2423549' first='Jaylen' last='Miggins'], to form a stellar backcourt trio. Miggins relies on his quickness and shiftiness to get into the lane and either score or draw fouls. He is working on improving his three-point jump shot.

A second-team all-league pick in the Southern Wisconsin Conference as a sophomore, Williams brings plenty of juice to the Lancaster lineup. He can defend, make plays off the dribble, get to the basket and haul down rebounds. Williams averaged 12.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while helping Lancaster to a 14-13 record and a spot in the Division 4 regional finals in 2023-24. He is one of five returning starters for coach Brian Knapp, giving the Arrows one of the most experienced squads in the sectional. Williams begins his junior season as a two-year starter and has scored 558 points during his prep career.

Pre-Season Pick to Click:

With three of the better players in the sectional in [player_tooltip player_id='1289076' first='Eli' last='Lindsey'], [player_tooltip player_id='2399607' first='Jaxson' last='Wendhausen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1874969' first='Drew' last='Aschliman'], and one of the top coaching staffs in the state led by veteran head coach Dan Burreson, it would be somewhat foolish to pick anybody but Mineral Point to come out of Sectional 3. Then again, basketball is a game of momentum and staying healthy so pretty much anything can happen. In addition to the versatility of Lindsey, the long-distance shooting of Wendhausen and the big-play capability of Aschliman, the Pointers also welcome back seniors Jake Phillips, Atley Potterton, Tucker Dannenberg and junior [player_tooltip player_id='2917117' first='Keaton' last='Dempsey']. Newcomers from a JV1 squad that went 18-4 also figure to compete for some playing time. Mineral Point is a basketball town with great tradition, high expectations, solid skill development and tremendous community support. That doesn't figure to change at all during the 2024-25 campaign.
