It is SUPER early for ranking freshmen but you have to start somewhere so we are launching the Class of 2028 rankings this week. There are some super talented kids at the top of this class and several kids who we have heard of but haven't been able to see and evaluate yet. Those players were put on the Watchlist for now. Here's a breakdown of the top small forwards in our inaugural 2028 rankings. Players who made the top ten overall in the class are not mentioned in this list.

Madisonville's [player_tooltip player_id='2429595' first='Ja'Cobi' last='Nichols'] could have the most long term potential in this class, especially if he keeps growing. Nichols has great length and athleticism already. He has good defensive instincts and is almost too unselfish at times on offense. Certainly a player to monitor in this class, long term.

[player_tooltip player_id='2529551' first='Aaron' last='Adams'] of McCracken County was a complete unknown until a couple of weeks ago but now I think he has some of the highest upside in this entire 2028 class. Standing 6'5 and possessing a good skill level, Adams will need to continue to make progress on the defensive end up he could be one of the best players in the first region by this time next year.

Seneca's [player_tooltip player_id='2451384' first='Prestyn' last='Wheatley'] is one of the best players in this class right now and his ultimate ceiling is yet to be determined. Prestyn plays hard and has a good skill level. He's able to bully defenders and get to the rim and he rebounds the ball at a high level. At his current size, Wheatley needs to become a point guard or combo guard and will need to show he can guard that position.

Perry County wing [player_tooltip player_id='2360954' first='Nick' last='Prater'] is bouncy and plays hard. A big time competitor, Prater is a guy who values winning and you can tell with how he competes on both ends of the floor. Nick is wiry and will need to add bulk to his frame but if he does add some weight, it will help his ability to finish through contact. Nick is certainly a player to watch in this class, long term.

[player_tooltip player_id='2530802' first='Noah' last='Beasley'] of Anderson County should be a starter for a veteran Wildcat team this season and will be their go to player as a Sophomore and beyond. At freshman camp Beasley showed he can do a little bit of everything. He scored, he defended, he rebounded at a high level. Noah will need to continue improving his overall athleticism but he's likely to have a very good Freshman season and projects to be a top player in the region, long term.
