Updated 2025 Player Rankings: Top Wing Newcomers

The Prep Hoops Wisconsin Class of 2025 Player Rankings were released Tuesday, and the extensive list includes the top 200 players in the class. Below are profiles of the wing newcomers to the top 100: No. 35 [player_tooltip player_id='2383714' first='Carson' last='Bauer'], 6-4, G, West Bend West ([program_tooltip program_id='2076501' first='Chapman' last='Basketball Academy']) An improved perimeter shooter with size and excellent ball handling and passing skills, Bauer has emerged as one of the state's top backcourt prospects in the 2025 class. He is on the recruiting radar for NCAA DII and high-level DIII programs because of his versatility, skill and improved play. As a junior for West Bend West, Bauer averaged 16.3 points and 8.0 rebounds while earning second-team all-North Shore Conference honors. He carried that strong play over to the spring/summer for [program_tooltip program_id='2076501' first='Chapman' last='Basketball Academy'], consistently showing his ability to guard different positions while scoring in a variety of ways and playing with a high basketball IQ. No. 36 [player_tooltip player_id='2492727' first='Brennan' last='Dempsey'], 6-5, F, Fort Atkinson ([program_tooltip program_id='2485567' first='MTXE' last='Premier Milwaukee']) Dempsey's size, skill and productivity have caught the attention of scholarship schools this spring and summer. A few NCAA Division II programs have expressed strong interest in the 6-foot-5 wing prospect. His play for MTXE has been strong as he's been able to play inside and score from the mid range. Dempsey has improved his shot from three-point range to make him an even more difficult player to guard. As a junior Dempsey averaged 14.9 points and earned second-team all-Badger Large Conference recognition. No. 44 [player_tooltip player_id='2111727' first='Jesse' last='Napgezek'], 6-4, G, Wausau East ([program_tooltip program_id='2485560' first='G-Elite' last='']) Napgezek has grown a bit over the last 12 months and has proven his value as a backcourt performer as well during that time frame. He is very good with the ball in his hands and is able to score in a lot of ways while also setting up his teammates. He appears to be at his best attacking the basket with his size, aggressiveness and athleticism, but he also has the ability to make shots from outside the arc. Napgezek earned unanimous first-team all-Wisconsin Valley Conference honors as a junior after averaging 18.7 points and 5.2 rebounds for Wausau East. No. 46 [player_tooltip player_id='2403253' first='Trent' last='Grunewald'], 6-3, G, Howards Grove ([program_tooltip program_id='2440559' first='Lakeshore' last='Force']) One of the better players in northeast Wisconsin and the returning Player of the Year in the Big East North Conference, Grunewald is a physically gifted wing guard who can score with his size and strength while also knocking down perimeter shots. He is a tough matchup because of his physicality and skill combination. He averaged 19.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a junior and was a force on both ends of the court with his instincts and versatility. He surpassed 1,000 career points last winter and helped Howards Grove to a league championship. He can definitely score, particularly off the dribble. He can defend with his mobility, size and physical strength. And he can lead the fast-break with his ball handling and vision. A key player for Kettle Moraine teams that earned trips to the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament in each of the past two seasons, Thompson shot 81 percent from the foul line as a junior and made 47 three-point baskets while averaging 12.0 points. No. 67 [player_tooltip player_id='2417878' first='Jace' last='Paul'], 6-4, G, Alma Center Lincoln ([program_tooltip program_id='2419315' first='CV' last='Select Basketball']) Kids playing at smaller schools in northern Wisconsin sometimes have a tough time garnering attention. That might be the case for Paul, but after watching him compete over the spring/summer, it's apparent he belongs among the premier seniors in Wisconsin. His productivity for Alma Center Lincoln and Chippewa Valley Select is consistent as he's able to score, rebound, pass and defend. The talented combination guard plays with very good mobility and is always active on both ends of the floor. He averaged 19.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists as a junior while helping Alma Center Lincoln to a 22-5 record. A three-year varsity performer heading into his senior season, Wegener picked up second-team all-North Eastern Conference laurels as a junior. He averaged 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds as a junior for a senior dominated squad, and is poised for a huge senior campaign for coach Scott Benoy. No. 81 [player_tooltip player_id='2390176' first='Lucas' last='Ludlum'], 6-2, G, Platteville ([program_tooltip program_id='2076023' first='Wisconsin' last='Academy']) Ludlum's game is centered around attacking the basket. He loves to put pressure on opponents with his aggressive moves to the hole, and his size and quickness are big assets for Platteville and [program_tooltip program_id='2076023' first='Wisconsin' last='Academy']. He was voted Player of the Year in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference as a junior as he averaged 16.0 points and 3.0 rebounds for a Platteville squad that won the league title and finished 24-4 under coach Mike Huser. No. 83 [player_tooltip player_id='1485498' first='Isaiah' last='Mellock'], 6-2, G, Wisconsin Lutheran ([program_tooltip program_id='2480703' first='24:' last='UP']) One of three returning regulars for a Wisconsin Lutheran program that went 30-0 and won the WIAA Division 2 state title last March, Mellock is a solid all-around player who competes with an edge and the ability to make big plays. He is outstanding at scoring off strong cuts to the hoop, and is a capable three-point shooter as well. He averaged 8.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 2023-24, and performed with toughness and versatility for [program_tooltip program_id='2480703' first='24:' last='UP'] in the spring and summer. No. 84 [player_tooltip player_id='1973108' first='Alex' last='Greene'], 6-4, G, Wisconsin Lutheran ([program_tooltip program_id='2485567' first='MTXE' last='Premier Milwaukee']) Like Mellock, Greene plays with a chip on his shoulder and an edge that helps his team amass victories. He plays with physicality that helps him create separation from defenders, and he can make mid range shots as well as shots from deep and off offensive rebounds. He averaged 7.6 points and 2.9 rebounds as a starter for Wisconsin Lutheran's undefeated squad last winter and was a very valuable member of the MTXE program in the spring/summer. No. 92 [player_tooltip player_id='2492554' first='Andy' last='Sauer'], 6-4, G, Kenosha Bradford ([program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro']) Sauer, who competes with [program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro']'s second squad, is a versatile wing who can rebound, score and guard different positions on the floor. The returning first-team all-Southeast Conference performer plays with good energy and mobility. He appears most comfortable scoring off the dribble of pulling up for short jump shots, but also can step outside to make three-point attempts. He averaged 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds as a junior for Bradford and is one of five returning starters from a club that went 13-13. Fenner is an experienced and heady backcourt player who will play a huge role for a Bradley Tech program expected to contend for the championship in the Gold Division of the Milwaukee City Conference.
