United Hoops Opens Day with Quarterfinal Win in Wisconsin Battle vs Hoop Dreams

First game of the day we saw two17U squads from Wisconsin clash as United Hoops topped Hoops Dreams 83-74 in their quarterfinal. This was a high scoring contest with not a lot of defense, but a ton of shot making. [player_tooltip player_id='2304732' first='Max' last='Raimer'] led the way for United Hoops with 24 points in the victory. The shooting guard poured in mid-range jumpers, threes, and had slick passing. [player_tooltip player_id='2388820' first='Trystan' last='Fry'] is another two guard who plays well next to Raimer. He was effective getting to the foul line, posting up, and hit a three off the catch for 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2381694' first='Elijah' last='Gorman'] was a flame thrower in this one with how well he made shots from distance hitting four triples along with mixing in a pair of and-1s for 20 points. Leshawn Brown is an athletic wing that cuts well off the ball, finished around the hoop, and can hit an open shot. Went for 9 points.

On the Hoop Dreams side we continued to be impressed with 6'6” post [player_tooltip player_id='2505436' first='Mesiyah' last='Ashley']. The big man has a great frame and some intriguing tools. Can shoot it from mid-range, soft touch on free throw, and is mobile finishing around the hoop netting 13 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1412883' first='Perry' last='Dorris'] is a power 2025 guard that was rolling from distance banging in five triples in the loss. Kymoni Hunt is an unsigned senior that can also knock down shots with four triples along with several mid-range shots. In an 18 point outing.

Illinois Orange 16U Advances to Finals With Victory over [program_tooltip program_id='2077044' first='Larry' last='Hughes Basketball Academy']

This was the lone 16U game we saw on Sunday as Illinois Orange beat [program_tooltip program_id='2077044' first='Larry' last='Hughes Basketball Academy'] 64-55 to move on to the finals. [player_tooltip player_id='2507312' first='Dominic' last='Boyd'] of Edwardsville had a breakout weekend and that continued in this one. He went for 18 points as the broad shouldered wing attacked downhill playing off his strength scoring or getting to the line. Crisp pull up jumper and can hit a corner three. Love his defensive instincts with how he gets steals and blocks on the perimeter. Oren Bynum is a 6'7” five man that is still learning the game, but he has tools to work with at his size being a good area rebounder and being able to finish on put backs. He had 8 points. Bouncy power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2536477' first='Gary' last='Johnson'] from St. Mary's has a lot of upside as a shot blocker, rim runner, and quick second jump.

[program_tooltip program_id='2077044' first='Larry' last='Hughes Basketball Academy'] was led by [player_tooltip player_id='2837275' first='Dillon' last='Player'] of Whitfield who had 16 points in the loss. The guard is a scrappy rebounder that got several second chance buckets. Like the athleticism and handles on his drives and is a quality passer.

Frontline Wins All-Illinois 17U Semi Against [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'] in Competitive Contest

Next up was a highly contested semi final between the [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'] and Frontline as both Illinois squads were looking to get a spot in the finals. The Bears made a late run, but Frontline held on to win 85-83. The story as it was all weekend for Frontline was the play of Calvary Academy shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552407' first='Luke' last='Blackford']. He was sensational once again scoring 34 points in the victory which was around his average on the weekend. What was even more impressive was it only took one three to rack up that total. His ability to play with strength in the lane off the bounce, crisp handles, and crafty finishes in the lane was fun to watch. He used his skill and strength to his advantage all game long getting to whatever spot he wanted on the floor. Springfield twins [player_tooltip player_id='2492520' first='Elijah' last='Wade'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2492529' first='Noah' last='Wade'] were big in the win as well. Elijah scored off the bounce, high arching floaters, and converted in the pick/roll finishing with 22 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2492529' first='Noah' last='Wade'] used his bounce to play above the rim, on the offensive glass, and hit a three for 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2388497' first='Aaron' last='Holman'] also had a strong outing inside with his rebounding, defense, and athleticism up front going for 12 points.

The [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'] got a huge game from [player_tooltip player_id='2406142' first='Jayden' last=''] McCoo as the Mascoutah combo guard had a very strong weekend to close out his career with the Bears. Speedy guard that can really go! Pushes in the open floor and has burst with the ball in his hands. Went for 24 points in the loss. Really has elevated his game over the last several months. Trenton Wesclin shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1548328' first='Chandler' last='Mueller'] is an elite shot maker from three that poured them in as usual along with showing he could play some on the ball netting 16 points. Pinckneyville wing [player_tooltip player_id='2389565' first='Riley' last=''] Bauersachs was a revelation for the Bears over the weekend as the 6'5” forward showed he can play inside and out. Plus three point shooter that rebounds for second chance points and is a skilled all around player as he closed strong with 18 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2244352' first='Dangerous' last='Alliance'] Plethora of Weapons Shine in Finale

This was a consolation game where both teams played free and let it fly. The Missouri squads battled with [program_tooltip program_id='2244352' first='Dangerous' last='Alliance'] recording a 80-63 win over SEMO Select. The Clopton 2025 brother duo of Cash Eivins and [player_tooltip player_id='2383033' first='Kain' last='Eivins'] were big time in this one. Cash is a wide bodied 6'4” post that can cash out from three and get on the offensive glass for put backs as he had 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2383033' first='Kain' last='Eivins'] had a strong weekend for [program_tooltip program_id='2244352' first='Dangerous' last='Alliance']. He is a skilled 6'4” combo forward that can handle it through traffic with quick moves and score in transition. Went for 21 points in the win. [player_tooltip player_id='1887578' first='Jacob' last='Aydelott'] is a 2025 6'2” guard from Timberland in St. Louis that can play with his plus athleticism and shot making from the perimeter notching 13 points.

In our first look at SEMO Select on the weekend several prospects made an impression. [player_tooltip player_id='2383506' first='Logan' last='Schaupert'] is a 6'2” 2025 point guard from Farmington that has some projectability with his long arms and feel for the game. Good passer and is slick off the bounce netting 14 points. Another Farmington product in [player_tooltip player_id='2414256' first='Cannon' last='Roth'] also caught our attention. The 6'5” combo forward has a good frame and can shoot the basketball from three along with mixing in some turnarounds inside the arc. Finished well on dump off passes inside for 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2127272' first='Matayo' last='Rivers'] is a 5'10” guard from Cape Girardeau Central who was very active on the defensive end getting steals and offensively put pressure on the rim scoring in a variety of ways for 15 points.

United Hoops 17U Brings Arch Madness 17U Crown Back to Wisconsin

The championship game was a clash between United Hoops from Wisconsin and Frontline out of central Illinois. It was pretty much United Hoops from the get go in this one and they never relented. Their three guard trio led the way capturing the championship 72-58 at the 17U level. [player_tooltip player_id='2381695' first='Kaycee' last='Guzman'] of Lakeside Lutheran (WI) had a monster game in the final contest notching 19 points as the 5'10” guard got whatever he wanted off the bounce. Scored coast to coast, acrobatic layups, and absolutely will his team with bucket after bucket. [player_tooltip player_id='2304732' first='Max' last='Raimer'] was very good again especially early on with his shot making from three and ability to win off the bounce for 13 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2388820' first='Trystan' last='Fry'] had 23 points in the final. The standout guard made four triples, several mid-range shots, won on straight line takes, and passed it well. Dominant performance!

[player_tooltip player_id='1552407' first='Luke' last='Blackford'] was held to just 12 points after going down with an injury. Before that he was rolling like he did all weekend with his crisp jumper. [player_tooltip player_id='2492529' first='Noah' last='Wade'] from Springfield had a strong game with 15 points. Plus athlete that gets to the rim with explosiveness.
