Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
A four-year varsity performer at Martin Luther and a 1,000-career point scorer, Dorris utilizes his versatility, athleticism and play making to make a positive impact on the court. Although on the small side, Dorris more than makes up for his lack of height with his feistiness on defense and his physical strength and speed on offense. Dorris has developed into a very good long-distance shooter, but he’s also effective off the bounce and often pulls up for mid-range jumpers that go down. Dorris, a second-team all-Metro Classic Conference pick as a junior, has the strength and body control to finish through contact. He averaged 18.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists as a junior for coach Paul Wollersheim at Martin Luther.

Perry helped lead Martin Luther to a 1-1 record showcasing his ability as both a scorer and facilitator. He keeps a low center of gravity with the ball in his hands, allowing him to come off screens tight while keeping his defender pinned to his hip. This allowed him to burst to the basket for some finishes, while also opening up some space to hit his big with a bounce pass rolling to the rim. Had some excellent passes just threading the needle through the defense. Perry has a dangerous jumper from both three and mid-range, with a quick release allowing him to get off a good look with limited space. Should be in for a big junior season as he’ll take a jump into an even bigger role.

is an undersized point guard that is a knockdown shooter. His height doesn’t limit him much on the offensive end. He has the ability to create for himself off the catch and dribble. He shoots the three ball extremely well (43.6%) and his mechanics point to a sustainable percentage. I really like how Perry is able to scan the floor and make quick decisions. He keeps defenders on their toes and is able to beat his man one on one, thanks to an elite first step. Martin Luther’s top floor general is graduating, so expect Perry’s workload and production to increase next season.
