The hot hand has carried over from last weekend. [player_tooltip player_id='1385306' first='Colby' last='Smith'] opened the Curie game with back-to-back triples. After the perimeter defense became more rigorous, smith shows an excellent ability to attack the rim inside while making plays for others. A pass off a double team lead to a great assist chance before the half (missed FT). Also displayed a smooth touch attacking the rim. Unfazed by contact and drew several shooting fouls.

Different player than I noted from last week (number error). Johnson had a really good game vs New Trier early Friday. On offense, he found the bucket from all three levels. Knocking down open shots with ease and with a defender all over him. Really good jab step to his game. Defensively, he was outstanding on the perimeter. Slides his feet well and showed excellent athleticism. Blocked back one of [player_tooltip player_id='1385306' first='Colby' last='Smith']'s shots in the opening half.

An athletic 6'4” shooting guard who also impressed for Curie vs New Trier. Displayed exceptional confidence attacking the lane and finished inside with both hands. Also added a fast break slam at one point in this contest. Later in the contest, he showed off his shooting abilities. Moving off the ball to get open for an easy 3-pointer. Late FT's closed out the win.

The 2026 PG was just one of many Loyola contributors in a solid win vs York. Williams showed plenty of poise as a ball handler and picked up tons of assists in this contest. Excellent vision and awareness with the ball. Also a very productive defenders who fits right into the Tom Livatino scheme.

De La Salle 6'6” wing looks lengthier than before. Had a fast-break slam to start the Proviso East game and got later them out of a slump with an outside 3-pointer. Showed midrange abilities as the game progressed. An underrated defender who uses his length to an advantage. Frustrated opponents both on the perimeter and inside.

Pickens recently transferred to Proviso East. An excellent offensive showing against De La Salle. His shooting form looks better than before. Showed so much confidence from outside the arc and buried numerous triples. Ball-handling has also improved which helped him free up space on several instances. He even scored a couple times through contact. Transition finishes and a reverse-layup late in the game.

Hillcrest 5'11” G has plenty of promise. Fadeaway midrange shot to start and broke past a defender for an easy layup shortly after. Drew contact on several more instances. Good hands on defense. Avoids sloppy reach-in fouls. Passing improved as the game went on with a pair of transition assists. A intercepted pass and transition score in the final seconds sealed the win in this game.
