DC Live Standouts Part 3

23p 5r 2s 1b vs John Marshall   -JRR carried positive momentum from his experience with the Canadian National Team into the DC Live weekend, showing that he is recovering well from a knee injury that forced him to miss the AAU season this year. He's shooting the ball with confidence, scoring at the rim, causing havoc defensively, and getting his own within the flow of the game. He's cut some weight and is moving well laterally as a result. He needs to clean up some turnover issues by keeping the ball high on drives and utilizing a retreat dribble more often, but his confidence and comfortability handling the rock shows a positive progression.     20p 3r 2s 1a vs Gonzaga   -The brightest spot in an up and down weekend for John Marshall, Argabright showed that he can put the ball in the basket against a flurry of different defenders. Argabright was very efficient but assertive with his dribbles, getting past his man and to the rim in 3 dribbles or less off a ball screen at the top of the key. The finishing bag around the basket has improved and he is utilizing pump fakes and taking better driving angles to avoid having his shot blocked. The on-ball defense has improved as he consistently forced dribble pick-ups in the halfcourt and fought to get back to his man when screened--although he will need to add more upper body strength and burst over the course of his final HS season.     17p 10a 5r 3s vs John Marshall   Took advantage of a bigger role in the offense with Sidwell's other two PGs missing time this weekend, showing his usual pesky perimeter defense while running the show for the Quakers. He's taking better care of the ball while improving his court vision on drives to the paint, utilizing hop steps and reverse pivots to create easy looks for his teammates in his double-double performance against a good John Marshall team.     17p 4r 1a 4s vs Sidwell, 10p 6r 2a 2s vs Coolidge   -One of the area's biggest stockriser's this past weekend, Barton turned some heads with his performance at both ends of the floor against Sidwell-- impressing as a versatile defensive stopper that can guard 1-3 while out-physicalling most HS 4s. He's knocking down C+S jumpers with more consistency while also hitting the glass hard to extend possessions on the offensive end and close out positions defensively.     9p 11r 2a 1b 1s   -Prosper didn't have a great day finishing around the rim in a loss to Friendship Tech, but he possesses an intriguing blend of skills as a 6'6 wing that can run the floor, defend multiple spots, get downhill on 3/4s, and finish above the rim. His motor and feel have improved, a good sleeper prospect to monitor in the 2026 VA Class.
