Curtis Shootout: Prospects to Know

Here are some of the most interesting, younger prospects from the Curtis Shootout. These kids should all play sizeable roles for their high school squads this winter and could be some big stock-risers throughout the summer.    Sanchez played a big role for Sunnyside as a freshman and looks like he'll have an even bigger role next winter. He's a crafty guard who sees passing lanes well, especially while attacking the rim. He had some great ball fakes and footwork at the Shootout and is a kid who plays fast but not hurried.     Grant brought the energy over the weekend and is a kid who can be a real defensive asset for Emerald Ridge next season. He's quick, aggressive, and created turnovers in the half-court and deep in the backcourt with his anticipation. Offensively, he drained a 3 from the top and if he can be more consistent on that end, could be a big factor for the Jags next winter.     Albright was just a rebounding machine. It's a simple thing but I never get tired of watching him compete on the boards and make sure it's the one thing he never fails to bring to the floor. He's physical, has a good reach, and plays with a great motor.     Kaylor came out of the gates firing in their game against Kelowna (BC). He scored in the paint and at the rim with both hands, shot well from 3-point, and made some controlled decisions in the paint to score off of two feet. He was aggressive and ready to shoot and should play a sizeable role offensively for the Vikings this winter.     Moksivong just plays with such a calm demeanor that really means a lot coming from a point guard. He plays with good change of speeds to keep distance between him and defenders, and sees the floor well from all over the floor. He's looking to score more and more too, still playing as a pass-first guard but also showing you can't leave him alone.       He'll play a big role for Auburn this winter and showed some good potential defensively while playing against Camas. He moved well on the perimeter and stayed grounded in the post. He has the length to be a real game-changer and will be a kid to watch grow over the course of this coming season.     He's a guard with some good length and athleticism who was active defensively, pressing up on ballhandlers and staying ready off the ball. Brooks also showed a little wiggle with the ball and looks like a solid slasher who can bring intensity and match up with various positions.     Collier operates at a different speed than the majority of kids out there. He wastes no time in attacking the rim, will blow by his man at any opportunity, and then picks his man up the length of the court. He's one of the more exciting players from the Shootout and has been shooting the 3-ball better lately too.
