This weekend, which is a live evaluation period for Division I college coaches, 170 of the best teams in the state of Indiana will descend on Carmel and Westfield High Schools for an absolutely excellent three days of basketball. Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer. However, before the event even starts, we will be rolling out content all week long to preview this outstanding event. Let’s dive on in and take a look at some of rising sophomores to get to know at the 2024 Charlie Hughes Showcase.
There is a lot of production to replace at Tipton this coming season with the graduation of Nolan Swan and Jackson Money who combined for 32.3 points per game. However, after getting some valuable varsity experience as a freshman, Auler will look to step into a larger role as a sophomore starting this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. He appears to be next in the lineage of skilled Tipton guards.
Highlights
Baskerville averaged 5.5 points per game as a freshman at New Haven and will be their top returning scorer this season. He is a talented 5’10” point guard with shifty moves off of the dribble, a tight handle, and some creativity when finishing at the end of his drives. Very talented as a playmaker and should start to garner some attention around the state as a lead guard to watch in the Class of 2027.
Highlights
One of my very talented guards at Cathedral High School, Daniels should factor into the rotation more this coming season after getting some valuable experience as a freshman playing in 19 games. He is ultra-quick with the ball in his hands, plays off of ballscreens well, and is a great playmaker for his teammates. Daniels remains one of the top point guards in Indiana’s Class of 2027.
An under-the-radar prospect out of Richmond High School in east central Indiana, Durbin has missed the spring due to injury but is back and ready to make his impact felt for the Red Devils at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. He is an athletic, physical wing with a well-rounded game on both ends of the floor. Look for him to really breakout this summer heading into his sophomore season where he is expected to make an impact at the varsity level.
Highlights
A Top 10 prospect in Prep Hoops Indiana’s first Class of 2027 Prospect Rankings release, Elkins has already proven himself as one of the best in the state. However, he will look to emerge in a bigger role this season for Lawrence North who will likely be one of the top teams in Indiana. He is a very athletic guard with good length, shot-creation ability, and some real explosiveness at the end of his drives. Anxious to see him play with the Wildcats this weekend.
Highlights
Hegwood made an instant impact as a freshman for Roncalli as their starting point guard averaging 5.1 points and 3.5 assists per game. Now, with Drew Kegerreis graduated and on to IU-Indianapolis, he will likely be asked to step into a larger scoring role for the Royals. The 6’1″ guard plays well through contact, has excellent court vision, and is continuing to develop as a shooting threat from the perimeter.
Highlights
A highly skilled guard that played a lot for Tri-West as a freshman, Miller averaged 4.2 points per game while shooting 21-51 (41.2%). The 6’1″ guard has had a really strong spring for Grand Park Premier and looks poised to take on further offensive responsibility as a sophomore for the Bruins. Look for that to begin this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase.
Highlights
One of the higher upside prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2027, Robisch has had a great spring for Park Tudor and appears ready to step into a role this year for the Panthers. The 6’5″ wing is incredibly fluid both on and off of the ball with a versatile offensive skill set. He can create off of the dribble, make catch-and-shoot three-point shots, or use his size to score around the basket. Look for him to really start to breakout heading into his sophomore season.
