On April 13th I attended the WCE AZ Spring Preview located at the Phhacility in Phoenix. I watched 15-17U and found some incoming talented freshmen plus some good unsigned seniors looking for college homes.

Here were the top 8th Graders I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id='1956218' first='Marcus' last='Isaac'] Mountain Pointe (Hoop Code 14) (Pictured)

A long and lean power forward with impressive upside. He is a natural defensive minded rim protector with blocking shots and rebounds out of his area. He can score with offensive rebound put backs, runners and shoot it to the three point line and from mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873639' first='Grant' last='Mattingly'] Central (Monstarz 17)

A scoring combo guard has a high feel for the game and changes speeds. He makes passes to his teammates and scores with drives inside and catch threes. His skill, size and IQ will translate immediately to the varsity level in the AIA.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386974' first='Nasir' last='Hailey'] Saguaro (Hoop Code 14)

A walking bucket. He is quick on quick and the ball is on a string for him. He is very hard to stay in front of and scores it from all levels with deep jumpers, blow-by's into reverse layups and he will in and out and rise up from mid-range. He had an easy 23 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386978' first='Jayden' last='Hayes'] Willow Canyon (Hoop Code 14)

A strong scoring guard with deep three point range. He has a strong mans body for his class and he isn't afraid of contact and will score thru it. He is a really good passer up the court and has a polished floater.

[player_tooltip player_id='2274252' first='Nehemiah' last='Henson'] Willow Canyon (Hoop Code 14)

An undersized scoring point guard has a clean stroke from the three point line. He gets the ball off his hands in a blink of an eye. He is very quick with the ball and looks to be a nice addition to the Wildcats.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386977' first='Kyle' last='Speed'] Gilbert (Hoop Code 14)

A wing forward who is a perfect glue player for any team. He defends multiple positions and he plays the passing lanes to collect steals and rebounds at high level. He can shoot it from the three off the catch and get to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2412268' first='Maurice' last='Carter II'] Willow Canyon (Hoop Code 14)

A scoring combo guard has a very tight handle in small spaces. He can easily split defenders and score it or make a play. He can pull-up from mid-range, euro step into the lane and he can even throw it down. He seems to be automatic from the foul line, and whichever school he chooses, they will have have a talented incoming freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id='2412338' first='Carter' last='Maxwell'] Eduprize (AZ Select 16 UAA)

A power forward with great size already for an 8th grader. He will hustle for loose balls and dive on the floor. He runs the floor well and knows where to go with the ball on both ends of the court. One to track for the future.
