Prep Hoops Midwest Showdown: Impressive Guards

The point guard is an electric two-way prospect who can change the pace of games with his tenacity. He is a tricky player to guard, as well. His ability to attack downhill and finish through contact is a valuable skill. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ben Jimenez -- PG -- [program_tooltip program_id='2076023' first='Wisconsin' last='Academy']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jimenez's full package of skill were on display this past weekend. The [program_tooltip program_id='2076023' first='Wisconsin' last='Academy'] point guard is a shifty, creative scorer who can fill it up in many different ways. I particularly like what Jimenez was able to bring to the table as a driver. He finishes well with either hand and does a great job finishing through and around contact </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1289064' first='Elijah' last='Griffin'] -- PG -- [program_tooltip program_id='2076218' first='Wisconsin' last='Playground Club']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Even though Griffin's game is not particularly flashy or exciting, his skillset is still extremely valuable. As a point guard and decision maker, Griffin does plenty at a high level. He is a steady ball handler, great passer, and smart prospect. In high pressure situations, Griffin is a player who coaches can trust. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1447228' first='Jamarion' last='Batemon'] -- SG -- Power Five</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Batemon continues to prove himself as a big-time prospect in Wisconsin. The shooting guard is electric in the open court as a finisher and playmaker. Batemon certainly boosted his stock in Appleton. Playing great competition, Batemon showed out. The Power Five standout made shots from all over the court and proved to be truly unstoppable. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1598239' first='David' last='Bolden'] -- PG -- Power Five</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bolden didn't put up huge scoring numbers, but his skill set still caught my eye. Playing with several other highly ranked prospects, Bolden did an excellent job finding open teammates and getting everyone involved. After playing great for Nicolet, the PG stepped up this weekend when his team needed it most. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1584901' first='Ricky' last='Wengert'] -- PG -- Minnesota Rise</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I came into this weekend not knowing much about Wengert's game. I left the weekend a huge fan of the Minnesota Rise standout. A slick and quick guard with the ball in his hands, Wengert forces defenders to stay active regardless of the situation. He is a gifted scorer from multiple spots and extremely difficult to guard. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1351718' first='Aaron' last='Womack'] -- SG -- [program_tooltip program_id='2076218' first='Wisconsin' last='Playground Club']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Womack showed no fear on the biggest stages. In games against top competitors, the shooting guard displayed his skill. As a shooter, Womack is absolutely lethal. When given an inch of space, Womack is looking to fire and knock down triples. As he continues to develop and improve, Womack's offensive upside is scary. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
