In this article, I take a look at the players from Iowa United 15U, from their game against D1 Minnesota.
A long wing who showed some ability to score from all three levels, Abbott uses his length well on both ends of the floor, covering a ton of ground. He can create off the dribble for himself and his teammates, showing good court vision and awareness of his surroundings on the offensive end, and he does a nice job getting into passing lanes on the defensive end. He’s a strong contributor on the glass on both ends of the floor and is a good enough ball handler to lead the break after pulling down a defensive rebound.
Campbell had a team-high 13 points in United’s narrow loss to D1 Minnesota, taking over as a scoring threat in the second half. He’s a talented guard with a strong upper body that he uses to finish through contact around the rim. He does a nice job playing with pace, showing the ability to change speeds to get by defenders, and he has a nice floater that he uses to score over bigger defenders in the paint. He shoots it well off the catch with a quick release and range beyond the high school line.
Highlights
A quick lefty guard who gets end-to-end with the ball in his hands at a lightning speed, Jones is a pass-first guard who loves to create looks for his teammates, putting constant pressure on his opposing defender with his speed, handles, and vision. He was also excellent on the defensive end, sitting in his stance and moving his feet well laterally. He really makes opposing ball-handlers work hard just to bring the ball up the floor.

An off-ball guard who moves well without the ball in his hands, Jorgensen is a capable shooting threat from behind the arc with a quick release off the catch. He didn’t make any 3s in the loss to D1, but the form on his jumper looks good. Like Jones, he’s a tough on-ball defender who moves his feet and does a nice job contesting shots on the perimeter. He competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor and is a tougher player than his stature would make him seem.
Highlights
Houser is a strong and athletic wing who does a nice job absorbing contact around the rim and finishing through it. He’s a really good athlete with a great second jump that he uses to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor, and he showed some comfort with his ball handling and shot creation for his teammates, especially with a nice baseline drive in which he attacked a hard closeout, got the help defender to rotate over, and then found an open shooter at the top of the key. With his combination of size, length, and athleticism, he can provide some versatility on the defensive end. He’s quick going end-to-end with the ball in his hands, and if he’s able to add some consistent range to his game, watch out.
Highlights
Miller finished with just four points but made a huge impact on both ends of the floor throughout the loss. An athletic 6-4 forward who runs the floor hard and is relentless on the glass, he has an intriguing blend of length and athleticism. He showed good footwork and touch on a post touch, making a quick decision on what he was doing and showing impressive fluidity with his movements. He can create a bit off the dribble and does a nice job passing out of the post, finding open shooters on the opposite wing and putting the ball into his teammate’s shooting pocket. He also held his own defending against smaller players on the perimeter, moving his feet and using his length to bother them.

Hunter Runchey
Hunter Runchey
Another off-ball guard with some good size and length, Runchey was solid attacking the rim off the dribble and with good off-ball movement. He showed good body control around the rim and the ability to finish through contact in the paint. He’s a patient finisher who does a nice job utilizing ball fakes to get the defense in the air and then allowing him to finish easily.
