Check out the follow-up to yesterday’s article, with 5 more guys from some other programs that made an impression on me while watching. Part 1 is linked HERE.
Diaz was another solid piece on his CC Elite group on Saturday, manning a ball-handling combo guard spot and showcasing why he looks like a future piece of note for Charlotte Latin. Was good in spacing the floor and knocking down the perimeter jumper when he got time and space. However, what I liked most was his pass-first nature, always looking for the open teammate and trying to make the reads his half-court offense provides to him, nothing more complicated than that.
Ferguson continued to shine as a bucket-getting guard for Team Trezz , leading all scorers with 19 in their win over a tough Carolina Pressure team. Continued to show that he can get buckets at the next level with his ability to get to his spots off the dribble, as well as getting to the rim and not shying away from bumps or physical contact. Solid shooter from the outside as well, knocked down a couple jumpers when I saw him. Should be an outstanding get late in the cycle for a JuCo or a D2 that takes him.
Highlights
Dylan Mann
Dylan Mann
Mann is a late bloomer that has come up on our radar with a bunch of high level performances on the Phenom circuit, and put together some more good outings this weekend as a post presence with good touch around the rim. Able to play with his back to the basket a bit too, showed a nice jump hook and some other paint touch moves. A bit stiff in his hips and legs, but has good length that allowed him to contest shots or play solid defense inside the arc. A true late bloomer and under-exposed guy due to his homeschooling, but could be worthy of a late addition somewhere.
Karr wasn’t scoring as much as he sometimes can on Saturday when I saw him, but he ran the offense with precision and technicality, and really projects as a unique player due to his size and passing ability. I’d say he’s a 6’5 point guard who can switch easily on defense, where he helped his team by making it easy to trade guys and play team defense. Offensively, he was whipping passes around and finding teammates with a blend of vision and knowledge when to try and hit the home run versus hitting the single. I think he’s a kid who could receive D1 offers soon.
Highlights
Connor continues to motor along as an explosive scorer, with a ton of shiftiness and change of pace in his game. He can rain from three, as he did last night when he went for 34 points, but also shot fake and drive or just beat your hip with his natural quickness. Gifted at getting to his spots and being able to put the ball in the basket for all three levels. Size at the next level will be a slight sticking point, but with his skill and scoring ability, it’s hard to imagine that he can’t put that past him and find a college level opportunity.
