In its first year of a bracketed format. The Prep Hoops Circuit's lone Michigan stop produced three days of competitive basketball. Following are the All Tournament teams from the 17U Division.

First Team

[player_tooltip player_id='1438849' first='Jah' last='Hatchett'] 5-10 East Kentwood Normally plays with the shoe circuited [program_tooltip program_id='2077017' first='Grand' last='Rapids Storm']. Came in and played how you would expect an elite player to play. No sense of entitlement. Competed hard and put up big numbers. Got to the basket at will. Once there showed the bounce and elevation that should help him succeed at the next level despite his sub 6-foot frame. Standout contest was his final contest against a solid Team Truth squad (see below) Put up 29 points in that decisive victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='2055727' first='Austin' last='Burns'] 6-5 Marshall Mr Versatility for Team Truth. Basically played all five positions for his squad on the weekend. Initiated offense from the traditional point guard spot with good ball handling ability for his size. However really excelled in passing out of the high post. Also displayed a soft touch on a shot that was automatic in the mid range. Showed competitiveness by taking on the task of guarding [player_tooltip player_id='1438849' first='Jah' last='Hatchett'] (see above) with varying levels of success. Standout contest was an opening nip and tuck victory against Hardwood Midwest (see below) Finished with an impressive 19 point 12 rebound double double.

Brendan Cargill 5-10 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central The [program_tooltip program_id='2077033' first='West' last='Michigan Lakers'] went undefeated and took home the top trophy. However it all nearly ended early. In the opener against [program_tooltip program_id='2269794' first='United' last='Persuit'], Cargill had to show his clutch gene. Nailing a three to take a thrilling victory. It was more than just that one instance though. Cargill was hot from beyond the arc all weekend. The lefty was also a sound ball handler and played hard nosed on ball defense. Not the quickest guard you will see. But is improving and does so many little things well. Plays in two excellent developmental programs (grassroots and FHC) Could be lined up for a big senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2058632' first='Joey' last='Angok'] 6-10 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern Cargill's cross district rival looks to be fulfilling the vast potential he has flashed for some time. He has bounced around a bit on the grassroots scene the last few years. But appears to be comfortable with the Lakers. The physical potential is unmistakable. Has real potential as rim protector. Showed it in the final against a Greg Grant Basketball Club that liked to attack the basket. Has some tricks in his bag offensively as well. Particularly a soft touch on a perimeter shot that is nearly impossible to block. Will need to add strength but that should not scare off a of college coach.

[player_tooltip player_id='2443089' first='Brayden' last='Mitchelson'] 6-4 Muskegon Reeths-Puffer Like Burns, versatility was Michelson's calling card. Had the bulk and strength to make plays down on the block. But also showed the ball handling and shooting to operate as a guard. Should be able to show that off in a new system at Reeths-Puffer in the coming year.

Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2447055' first='Daniel' last='Winston'] 6-2 Redford Thurston Bouncy scorer who came alive for a Tar Heels-Winston squad that had a good day Sunday. Standout performance was 38 point outing against a Blue Water Hurricane squad that advanced all the way to the semifinals. Has a unique looking but effective outside shot. Also showed ball handling ability and a willingness to attack the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1438253' first='Lorence' last='Woodley'] 5-11 North Farmington Tightly wound athletic lead guard prospect had nice weekend for the other Michigan Tarheels squad in the field. Built like a fullback and attacked the basket with force and purpose. Had a few dunk attempts in traffic that were audacious and showed off his aggression and elevation. Standout contest was a 27 point outing in a victory against LOUD Academy. There is some real opportunity at a rebuilding North Farmington squad next year. Interesting to see if he can step into that rotation.

[player_tooltip player_id='2262438' first='Jack' last='Hogan'] 6-2 Wyoming The best shooter I saw ball weekend. Was the beneficiary of a lot kick outs from Hatchett and [player_tooltip player_id='1437546' first='Darryl' last='Thompkins']. However also created his own shot when he needed to. More that just a shooter. Showed the athleticism to put pressure on the rim when defenses adjusted to run him off the line. Showed the full package by finishing with 22 points on four threes in the closing victory against Team Truth.

[player_tooltip player_id='1587857' first='Tarren' last='Calvert'] 5-11 Wyoming Didn't put up eye opening statistics for [program_tooltip program_id='2269794' first='United' last='Persuit']. But was a steady point guard who set up his teammates well. Good live dribble passer who waited for plays to develop. Could be a little more aggressive in looking for his own shot— but that's not a huge negative. Will be fun to watch him and Hogan in the same backcourt for a Wyoming program loaded with guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2441612' first='Austin' last='Miller'] 6-5 Mashall The other “Austin” for Team Truth (see above) Similar size and skill set to Burns. Just not as refined and athletically explosive. Stepped up when Burns went out with a cut against the eventual champion [program_tooltip program_id='2077033' first='West' last='Michigan Lakers']. In the big opening win against Hardwood Midwest finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. The RedHawks have a nice senior duo for next season to build with.
