I saw Thompkins early in the event on Friday evening. While he was shooting, scoring and making plays – it was his basketball IQ that stood out the most. He just had a feel for the action and seemed to always know where the ball needed to go for his team to get a good look.

Thompkins has taken his talents to Muskegon, and that could be rough news for the rest of the state. Thompkins may not be tall, but he doesn’t need to be. He’s a flat out pit bull on the basketball court. Thompkins has a next level frame and next level strength. And he uses those effectively to dominate taller guards.

Thompkins and Hatchett might make up 1 of the best backcourts in the field. Scary to think that they’re high school teammates as well. Thompkins is a good old fashioned grinder. He’s physically just stronger and faster than most of the players he’ll match up with.

He shot at an extremely high percentage throughout the event and was tough on D, shutting down or slowing some elite competition.

This seems like an obvious one. I’ve been preaching what Thompkins brings to the table since his freshman year and I won’t stop now. He showed off a powerful and explosive base and the ability to control the pace and feel of the game when the ball is in his hands.

“Darryl Thompkins will be playing in 5 tournaments with BNB. He’s coming off back to back district titles and back to back 1st team all conference selection. He has a motor on both sides of the ball. Can score in bunches but also loves to get assists and steals.” – Coach Thompkins
