A very athletic forward, Nichols was flying above the rim for layups, dunks and tip ins. When he gets a clear path, Nichols is as explosive as anybody from the East district that I’ve seen. Combine his athleticism with productive interior scoring and the occasional set shot and Nichols should be a nice piece in a conference that usually has a few sleepers every year.
Highlights
Fedak comes from a stacked Westerville north program and has waited his turn to make a big varsity impact. Heading into his senior season, Fedak is playing his best basketball. A big who can finish around the rim, Fedak was attacking rebounds off the glass before smaller guards could get to the ball. I also liked how Fedak ran the court, giving himself some easy layup opportunities with his hustle. In a tight win on Saturday, Fedak had a huge block late to help seal the win. Still has a ways to go but Fedak is making strides and could be turning the corner at the right time for a Westerville north program that graduated some important seniors in the front court.
One of the top scorers on the Prep Hoops Grit Circuit, Conkle is consistently at the 20 PPG mark most weekends. He achieves this by knocking down shots from the outside and never getting out of attack mode. Regardless of the score, Conkle is looking to attack the basket and score. Occasionally this leads to a turnover or collision on the court, but usually results in Conkle either getting a bucket, being fouled or drawing help defense for his teammates to score. I’m not sure how many guards I watch cover as much ground in a game as Conkle does, he’s everywhere going after loose balls, rebounds and trying to force turnovers.

Perie caught FIRE on Saturday with seven 3-pointers in their win. Shooting the ball with a ton of confidence and most importantly, his teammates setting him up when he was open and consistently feeding the hot hand. In a short stretch in the second half Perie hit maybe three 3-pointers in a three minute span. Was really nice to see a new name make shots and have a blast out there with his teammates. Everybody on the roster was excited for Alex as he propelled them to a blowout victory after a tight loss earlier in the day.
Lexington has a lot of returning talent from a team that went 22-3 and Legron is a name to know from that team. Making shots off the catch from the outside, Legron ran off screens off the ball and used a quick release to hit tough 3-pointers. Combine that with active hands offensively and solid production from Carter Ward as a scorer and Caesar Abouchahine as a rebounder and this Nova-Legron squad has some solid talent.
