One of the top players in the east district, Conkle has gone from a Prep Hoops Circuit standout in the summer to a school record holder in the winter. Coshocton has been a team I’ve been following closely as the four team race for the MVL championship heats up with Maysville, Tri Valley and John Glenn all sitting at 11-1 in league play, Coshocton is just behind at 10-2. After breaking Coshocton’s all-time scoring record playing for his dad, Conkle now sits just 35 points behind his dad’s county scoring record he set at Ridgewood. A tremendous high school talent who has the work ethic and talent to excel at the college level, we’ll be following Conkle’s journey over the next four years.

Conkle earned First Team All-Tournament honors at the Prep Hoops Girt Region Finals to cap off what was a very productive spring and summer on the circuit with Midwest Basketball – Burgett 17u. The 6’0″ guard from Coshocton High School is a high-level shooter from beyond the arc making them both off of the dribble and the catch at a high percentage. Putting that level of pressure on the defense from the perimeter then opens up his ability to attack the paint off of the dribble where he can then serve as a playmaker for others as well. Recently picked up an offer from Bluffton while on a visit.

Midwest Pumas – Burgett lost a close one in the quarterfinals, 72-68 to KY Rise. However, Conkle was among the top scorers at the 17u level at the Grit Region Finals averaging averaging 18.3 points per game on the weekend. The 6’0″ sharpshooter was at his best in that loss to KY Rise scoring 25 points while shooting 5-8 from three-point range. What he can do as a playmaker, along with his deadeye shooting ability from deep, makes him a really intriguing small college prospect.

The best game I saw all weekend was Midwest Burgett Vs Quality Sports Academy , it also happened to be the best game I’ve seen Conkle play this year. Conkle came out the gates swinging with a couple impact defensive plays that included a blocked shot that led to a no-look dime for an assist. He then got going from downtown, knocking down one 3-pointer where he ran off a screen and another couple pull-up jumpers from the top of the key. Finally, Conkle finished in traffic through contact. At the end of the game, Conkle was fouled with 2 seconds left and his team down a point, he calmly knocked down both free throws to secure the win for his team.

One of the breakout stars from the Prep Hoops Circuit this spring in the Grit Region, Conkle has been one of the most consistent scorers on the circuit for his Midwest Basketball Club team. A high motor guard, Conkle goes all out on every play. Able to knock down shots from the outside and not afraid to challenge rim protectors in the paint, Conkle can dish out buckets in a variety of ways. The MVL had a strong season last year with Maysville going to the state title game, Tri Valley winning a district and New Lexington falling in a district final. Conkle was one of the top players in that conference last season and should be in the mix for conference POY with studs from teams I previously mentioned. Great time to be a hoops fan in the greater Muskingum area and Conkle should get plenty of small college interest before it’s all said and done.

A consistent top performer on the Prep Hoops Circuit this spring, Conkle was excellent once again at the Havoc in the Heartland. The 6’0″ guard from Coshocton High School in Ohio had a huge day on Saturday pouring in 27 points in the first game of the day before flirting with a triple-double finishing with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists later in the day. He was a big part of Midwest Pumas – Burgett’s success finishing the weekend 3-1. Conkle can get hot from beyond the arc, consistently makes plays off of the bounce, and is a disruptive defender on the perimeter as well.

One of the top scorers on the Prep Hoops Grit Circuit, Conkle is consistently at the 20 PPG mark most weekends. He achieves this by knocking down shots from the outside and never getting out of attack mode. Regardless of the score, Conkle is looking to attack the basket and score. Occasionally this leads to a turnover or collision on the court, but usually results in Conkle either getting a bucket, being fouled or drawing help defense for his teammates to score. I’m not sure how many guards I watch cover as much ground in a game as Conkle does, he’s everywhere going after loose balls, rebounds and trying to force turnovers.

Midwest Basketball Club Burgett played two intense battles on Saturday and Conkle made plays happen in both contests. The point guard who helps set the table for his team, Conkle makes the lives of his teammates easier with his passing ability. A solid athlete, Conkle rotated over and blocked a shot on the first possession of the second game. A good rebounder for his size, Conkle’s high motor allowed him to get some loose balls a player of his size usually doesn’t end up with. A solid small-town scorer, Conkle is coming off an impressive junior season for Coshocton.
