As always, our staff had boots on the ground throughout the day providing unparalleled coverage as only Prep Hoops can do. Let’s quickly take a look back at some of the individual standouts from Saturday’s action.
Austin Buescher
Austin Buescher
Better Than Yesterday went 2-0 on Saturday and was led by this 6’4″ wing/forward in both games. Buescher used his athletic, long frame to score consistently around the basket throughout the day. He finished with 21 points and 15 points in the two games to lead his team in scoring. A name to remember out of West Jefferson High School in Ohio.
Chinn played very well in Evansville Finest’s morning win over a good Sammie Lewis Elite team from Arkansas scoring 14 points and disturbing the ball consistently. However, he was just getting started. He then exploded for 34 points on six three-point shots in a second win of the day over Illinois Warriors Elite. Finally, in the nightcap, Chinn scored 20 points making four more three-pointers.
United Hoops is 3-0 coming out of Saturday and appears to be one of the best teams in the field here at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off. Guzman, a strong 5’10” guard, scored 10 points in their first game of the day but then went off for 23 points in a win over a very good Future Future Elite White team. The playmaking point guard has had an excellent weekend and it has led to a lot of winning.

Arguably the best player on one of the best 2027 teams at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off, Helton scored 14 points and 24 points in respective games to lead Kentucky Future Elite 2027 to a pair of easy victories. The 6’4″ wing used his size and strength consistently to finish around the basket.
Highlights
One of the better catch-and-shoot prospects in the gym on Saturday, Lundberg started the day off by connecting on five three-point shots on his way to a game-high 21 points as his 88 West squad rolled to a 60-43 victory over Illinois Warriors Elite.
Rondon has as good of a day as anyone on Saturday at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off. He led the way scoring 18 points in their morning win over Kentucky Future Elite White and then scored 15 points in the afternoon, though they lost on a near buzzer-beater 51-50 to Southern Indiana Blaze . Rondon was impressive with his ability to create his own shot off of the dribble and score consistently from a variety of spots on the floor.
Miles White
Miles White
NEBC dominated their competition in both games on Saturday and this unsigned senior from Massachusetts was a big part of their success. White is a 6’4″ guard that displayed real shot-making ability both beyond the arc and in the mid-range. He can elevate up over the defense with his size and athleticism. Definitely one for college programs to be aware of as they round out their 2024 recruiting class.
