Kentuc Ky Future Elite
was the last game I saw on Friday and Helton stood out with his flashy passing ability and deep shooting skill. Against a zone defense, Helton was picking it apart with no-look dimes to teammates and his ability to stretch the zone out well beyond where the college 3-point line would be helped his team rack up points in a hurry. Expect Helton to put up big offensive numbers as a senior for Scott County.
Helton averaged 13 points per game as a Sophomore at Scott County before transferring to Henry Clay last year. Now back with the Cardinals, Colton has had several high scoring games this summer. Capable of heating up in a hurry from deep, Colton had a game where he hit 8 threes during the KABC live period event 2 weeks ago.
Colton is one of the hardest working 2027s in the state. Having transferred back to Scott County after competing with Henry Clay last season, Colton looked comfortable for the new-look Cardinals. Pacing his squad with a smooth blend of ball handling and scoring abilities, he proved that he’s ready to a lead a team. His most notable performance featured an outpour of 8-made 3pt field goals versus St. Mary’s.
Colton is a good shooter who has had some big scoring games this AAU season. A couple of Puma sessions ago, Helton averaged over 20 points for the weekend and has had a couple of games where he scored 30+. With his positional size and ability to score, Colton has a lot of appeal to college coaches.
Colton checks a lot of boxes as a prospect and looks like he could be a breakout guy this winter, depending on where he enrolls. Helton has a very high skill level and a natural basketball IQ that comes from growing up in the gym as his parents are both coaches. With his size and ability to play on or off the ball, Helton should be a mismatch for most opposing teams. Don’t be surprised if he has a strong Junior season and sees his stock go up this winter.
A talented player who did a lot for Scott County last season, Helton is a volume scorer who can heat up in a hurry. Colton is also a good rebounder for his size and has scholarship level potential down the line. He could be one of the most impactful transfers next season.
Colton led Scott County in most statistical categories as a Sophomore and has some physical tools and skill level that will catch your eye. Path forward, Helton is going to be an interesting prospect to track for several reasons. Colton has been coached by his parents at both the high school and AAU levels for the last 2 years. I’d be interested to see how he performs with a different voice on the sidelines. When I’ve seen Helton in camp settings, he tends to rise with the level of his competition. He’s one of the biggest sleepers in this class because his potential is pretty high up there.
Helton had an up and down season with a few really big scoring games. Colton has good positional size and a high IQ. If he can improve his overall scoring efficiency, Helton can establish himself as a top guard in the class, long term.

Helton averaged 16.3 points per game while leading Kentucky Future Elite 2027 to a perfect 4-0 weekend. His stellar performance included putting up 24 points in a Saturday morning win over the Fort Wayne Believers. Helton’s positional size caused consistent matchup issues for opposing teams all weekend long.

Arguably the best player on one of the best 2027 teams at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off, Helton scored 14 points and 24 points in respective games to lead Kentucky Future Elite 2027 to a pair of easy victories. The 6’4″ wing used his size and strength consistently to finish around the basket.
