Continue ReadingThe annual Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off was certainly a success. Teams from New York to Arkansas and everywhere in between descended on the MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville, Kentucky for three great days of basketball. As always, our Prep Hoops staff had boots on the ground providing unparalleled event coverage throughout the event. Now, the content will continue to rollout over the next couple of days before turning our attention to the Chi-Town Tip Off. Let’s begin with naming our All-Tournament teams. Here are the individuals that Scotty Burgess and myself have selected for the 15u All-Tournament teams.
First Team
There is always going to be a spot on the All-Tournament First Team for a guy who fits the “best player on the best team” mold. That was what this 6’0″ guard out of Shelby Valley High School in Kentucky was for 606 Elite 2027 at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off. Bartley led his team to a perfect 4-0 record in Pool A while scoring right around 15 points per game. His perimeter skill really stood out throughout the weekend.
Highlights
A thin 5’11” guard from Simon Kenton High School in Kentucky, Bilton averaged 16.5 points per game while leading his Northern Kentucky Legends 2027 team to a 4-0 record. He displayed some real quickness with the ball in the open floor, shiftiness playing off of ballscreens in the half court, and was a creative finisher at the end of his drives. Putting up those sort of numbers while contributing to winning all of the games certainly lands you a spot on the All-Tournament First Team.
Highlights
From a statistical standpoint, few, if any, had a better weekend at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off than Chinn. The 5’7″ dynamic point guard from Evansville Bosse High School in Indiana went off for 34 points including seven three-point shots in Evansville Finest’s Saturday afternoon win over Illinois Warriors Elite. Overall, Chinn averaged 21.5 points per game to earn First Team All-Tournament honors.
There was a ton of talented young prospects from the state of Kentucky at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off in Louisville. One of them was this 6’4″ wing from Scott County High School. Helton averaged 16.3 points per game while leading Kentucky Future Elite 2027 to a perfect 4-0 weekend. His stellar performance included putting up 24 points in a Saturday morning win over the Fort Wayne Believers. Helton’s positional size caused consistent matchup issues for opposing teams all weekend long.
Highlights
Timberlake-Johnson is an athletic, physical guard that was able to consistently get to the basket and finish for his Team Robinson 2027 squad. Early on Sunday morning, the Fort Wayne South Side High School product exploded for 30 points in a hard-fought, one point loss to the Indiana Bucket Boys. Overall, Timberlake-Johnson averaged 20.5 points per game at the Prep Hoops Grit Region Kick Off.
