Colt Fowler Colt Fowler 5’6″ | PG Byrnes | 2027 State SC continued to show why he is one of the most talented Freshmen in the State with his performances on Sunday at the Phenom Challenge. He was very good in both games today, putting up 14 Points and 6 Assists in Game 1 and 21 Points in Game 2. Colt put on a shooting display, connecting nine times from behind the arc between the two matchups. Fowler is much more than a shooter, however. He is a quick guard with a great handle and feel for the game. He will likely be one of the more important players for the Upward Stars SE team and could draw some early looks from College Coaches in May.
Caden brought his game bright and early in the first window of games on Sunday Morning. Although he started at the 2, some of his brightest moments were playing the PG position. He did a great job of rebounding and pushing, scoring in the paint, and getting to the free-throw line. Coleman also had a highlight play on both ends of the floor: swatting a shot off the backboard and catching a lob in transition, each with his head near the rim. Caden finished with 13 Points and 4 Rebounds in a win over Team Vision.
Tyson is a smooth scorer from all three levels of the floor. He can play either position in the backcourt and can score off the catch or the dribble. In particular, Ray impressed with his ability to create opportunities for his teammates as well. He had a strong 10-point, 7-assist performance on Sunday Morning, using his size, speed, and length to cause lots of problems for the opposing defense.
Jaleel seemed to be playing with a chip on his shoulder on Sunday Afternoon in a matchup with Upward Stars SE. He made it very difficult for his matchup to keep him in front and out of the paint, which is one of the strengths of his game. McGee is a terrific downhill driver and showed an ability to finish around or through the size of Upwards’ Bigs on his way to a 21-point game.
Kent Mills
Kent Mills
Mills was one of the more impressive big men in the 17U Orange Bracket and had an important role in helping the Carolina Raptors advance to the Championship Game. Mills has a good combination of size and strength, but still moves around the floor very well. He is capable of finishing off the dribble, runs the floor well, cleans the glass, and if you let him catch it with two feet in the paint it’s game over.
