The moment Rosado received the ball he knew exactly what he wanted to do with it either going up with a shot immediately or putting it on the floor, going between his legs and taking it to the rack. Rosado shot it well from all areas of the floor, utilizing his dynamic ball-handling and a crafty playing style consistently. Equally effective going left or right, selling the crossover like an expert. Throughout the weekend, Rosado also led his team in scoring, tallying double-digit points in each game.
Carson Headquist Carson Headquist 6’4″ | SG Dasche | 2024 TX proved to be the top shooter of the weekend, he stood out as undoubtedly the best jump-shooters in the tournament. A lethal shot maker with one of the purest releases I saw all weekend along with range that stretched beyond the professional perimeter. Carson spots up and plants himself well outside the arc taking advantage of kick outs and defenders sitting below the three-point line, he even nailed a few from the logo. His jumper was almost impossible to contest due to his size and the quickness in which he got his shot off. Although Carson Headquist Carson Headquist 6’4″ | SG Dasche | 2024 TX didn’t have to do a lot of scoring at rim, he showed a willingness to pump fake and attack closeouts to keep the defense honest.
Highlights
JD Bradford proved to be gifted athlete perfect for any program in need of an athletic guard who can get paint touches, draw fouls, and score at the rim. Bradford breaks down the defense with a great first step, shifting through tight spaces with good elusive use of his hips. This kid flight and glides through the air with ease maneuvering around defenders attempting to take the charge showcasing outstanding body control and touch on the finish, flashing a wide array of moves to evade shot blockers around the rim. Bradford also puts his unique package of explosive leaping abilities and strength to good use on the glass making him a phenomenal rebounder for a guard. Bradford thrives and can be most effective in an up-tempo system, where his decision-making skills shine even at full speed as he consistently makes the right play.
Judah Pena, standing at 6’4″ and possessing a strong build, quickly caught attention with his dynamic rebounding and ability to push the pace. He seamlessly initiates the offense or takes it coast to coast, utilizing his long stride to navigate through traffic. Pena’s aggressiveness and relentlessness on the boards were evident from the start, establishing dominance early on. With craftiness and creativity at the rim, he adeptly adjusts his finishes midair to evade shot blockers, demonstrating impressive hang time and concentration. Pena’s highlight moment came when he missed a corner three, immediately transitioning into a chase down block on the ensuing fastbreak, swatting the ball off the backboard with perfect timing. His explosiveness made him the standout player of the night on day 1.
Jawun Shaw Jawun Shaw 5’11” | PG Dallas Kimball | 2024 TX displayed remarkable shot making abilities from various distances, confidently knocking down shots from high school, college, and even professional range while maintaining impeccable form and elevation. His fearlessness in attacking the rim allowed him to soar above defenders and finish with authority, showcasing outstanding leaping ability off both one or two feet for numerous highlight-worthy dunks and layups. Shaw’s offensive game-changing prowess was on full display as he created scoring opportunities for himself, filled up the scoreboard from all three levels, and delivered crucial plays when they were most needed, cementing his impact on the offensive end.
